He said it will not be a new stadium from scratch in a new location.

He said it will probably be done in phases. He mentioned it would probably be west side first, then east side at a later time, then a NEZ if we needed more seating. Even with a NEZ it will not be more seating than now.

Just what in the Holy heck are you people upset about?

Seriously, I can't figure it out.
This right here! Where you and I may disagree is with total capacity. I want a 35-40k stadium at max capacity. I don't care if some people can't get in for potential big games...sorry, boo! Create demand!

This is the year to create a demand first for season tickets. As I stated earlier in this post, in my opinion, there are only two ways to put 40,000+ in CF every home game.

    1. Bring in the top tier teams into CF and beat them...the Alabama's, Oklahoma's, VaTech's...
    2. Play the top tier teams at their place and beat them....the Alabama's, Florida's, Miss.State's....

I know that it would be asking a ton of Coach Napier to pull off this miracle this year, but if the Cajuns beat Alabama and Miss.State, not to mention NM State, then no matter who the Cajuns play at home, even if it was Ovey Comeaux High, the stadium will be full because everyone will want to see the team that beat Alabama and Miss. State.

I just wish we could use Cajun Field for other events. Anything that can generate revenue besides football. It would be cool if we were able to get a semi-pro soccer team, or we try add soccer as a sport at the university or lacrosse. If we could possibly host a bowl game that would be awesome. Maybe we can get a BOA competition here in Lafayette, we have Louisiana Showcase of Marching Bands, and Drums Across Cajun Field.

What other uses could we use Cajun Field to generate revenue for the University?

Big Tier teams will NEVER come to Cajun Field regardless of how well we perform. Never means from now until the end of time. Beating them at their place is something I hope happens soon.

Establishing an Oil Bowl is the long term route I would suggest.

There are some highlights on YouTube of the USL-Alabama game from 1990. I watched them the other day and it was kinda surreal to see Alabama playing at Cajun Field. Could you imagine the almighty Alabama ever coming to Lafayette again?? That would be a cold day in hell

Outdoor concerts could easily generate a large amount of money. Something like Bayou Country Superfest could greatly benefit our athletic program.

You bring up a great point in all of this. It’s anazing the number of years we have left money on the table just by letting our facilities sit there and collect dust during the offseason.

Great idea! ULM actually does a huge Jamboree before the football season, I-A all the way to 5-A play in jamboree games, it goes all day from 10 in the morning till 9 that night, and they must get about 25,000. They probably get more for that event then they get at one game at ULM. Why couldn’t Lafayette and the sorrounding area host a bunch of jamboree games for one day.

People go just to watch football all day, and to see other high school programs.

If fans of Carencro, and Acadiana go to watch there Jamboree I guarantee they will stay for a Lafayette vs Comeaux game.

Kiwanis has done that for years in Lafayette and play there premier matchups at Cajun Field.

Kiwanis does that every year for the local area schools, but I’m not sure if it generates a lot of revenue. A lot of it goes back to Kiwanis.

I think a concert would generate a lot more revenue depending on the bands, ticket prices, and advertisements. Also, if the athletic program can take a piece of the concessions (especially the beer sales), that’s where we can see some green.
