They didn’t win a series until April, started 3-6 in conference and had one of the worst BA in the nation. This is out of 200 plus teams. They couldn’t hit a beach ball.
They are playing much better and turned around their season. It is a heck of an accomplishment to win the West. All that aside, the answer is indeed no. In March it did not look like they were making the tournament.
Looking at March and drawing any conclusions from March as it relates to the end of the conference season, is not a very smart bet.
Also occurring in March: Beat LSU, Beat Vandy, SHOULD have taken the series from UT at UT, SHOULD have beaten a 40 win Wright St, SHOULD have beaten Miss St.. Played the 4th best NC schedule in America and damn near came out .500, with major injuries and and virtually no offense.
Legit question earlier in the season. I love the rebound second half surge, answer to the question.
Fans remember a Robichaux coached team that incidentally hit better than this one, missing the tournament while hosting.
It was a legit question, I love the answer. And I am thrilled the team took inspiration from the question.
This team has heart.
Love the tweet.
Valid points. Now I didn’t say it was smart, but think with your heart after conference losses and it’s easy to jump to UL not making the tourney.
While it wasn’t technically a conference series, they lost at home to South Al too. It was not true in the standings, but from a fan point of view the Cajuns were 4-8 against their peers and were 0-4 in series. It’s not an unreasonable conclusion to think their chances of making the post season were in jeopardy at that point because they flat out couldn’t finish in the weekends.
There are two big pictures and both resemble a giant funnel.
The small tip of the funnel represents where you are currently in time, and is your vantage point of the big picture.
Right now, being in the tournament the early season "questions" seem far off, spread out and less relevant.
Earlier in the season the funnel tip and mouth (big picture) were much closer together and thus much more relevant. Today's view wasn't in the actual picture, but admittedly a rendering of now was being projected through a legitimate question.
I like the current big picture better.
