I think that position will have more than a few changes.

Bringing in a JUCO would be great, and it would allow us to redshirt the HS guys, but any JUCO guy we get won't move the needle as much as you want them to, unless he is a legit passing QB. I definitely do not want a grad transfer. That would put us back to square 1 at the QB position in year 3 when our RB's are seniors. Not good.

Unless we can find a legit FBS arm in the JUCO ranks, we need to put the HS commits into the fire as soon as they arrive on campus.

I told you. We won't be in a favorable position until year 3.

    Patience and perspective.

Lewis to DB. He might be able to play on Sunday back there. He'll get bench splinters if he stays where he is.

I was hoping that would be the case. The way these guys seem to be able to recruit, I am interested to see who they can get!

I think we may have a real shot at Lowell Narcisse. Coach Juluke recruited Lowell to LSU when he was on staff over there.
You would need to hire his high school QB coach to get him here. His name is Blaine Gautier

First, I trust that Coach Napier knows what type of QB he needs for his system. So, it could be that guy is Gibson after this year or next spring. That's highly unlikely this year considering he hasn't been working with the first group to my knowledge.

Secondly, I would rather have a transfer with 2 or 3 years of eligibility left as well. But if a very good Grad transfer is an option, you take him because it's much better starting a RS. Freshman at QB after having a year in the system and one spring under his belt, than playing a true freshman at QB. In my lifetime as a UL fan, I've seen two true freshmen QB's play and elevate this program, Mitchell and Delhomme. They don't come around very often.

I don't agree that is necessary, but we shall see. As I said, if you are talking about 3 year rebuild, you are actually talking about 5 years of consecutive losing. After 30 plus years of skin in the game, I don't have the patience or the stomach to watch bad football for another 3 seasons.

    Patience and perspective.

Blaine was his college coach at LSU also. I think I could speak for most of us. We would love to have Blaine back on campus!

At the last QB club, Napier seemed pleased with the QB situation where it stands for next year (if they get the commits to campus), really likes Levi, and indicated they would not be looking for a JUCO or grad transfer. That was at least as of September 21. He went on about how special he thinks Levi is. Based on what he said, and his tone, it appeared that he is comfortable slotting in Levi as the starter next season. A lot can happen between now and then though.

I'm not saying I don't agree with any of the suggestions posted in this thread regarding getting a QB. I'm just reporting on what Napier said to the QB club.

I am very excited for what Chandler Fields brings as well. Difficult to have a true freshman ready to play though.

If you can find a good grad transfer, I think you have to take them. It gives your HS guys an extra year to learn the system and develop their bodies to play at the college level. A JUCO would be better, but I wouldn’t turn down a GT if they could help.
