At the last QB club, Napier seemed pleased with the QB situation where it stands for next year (if they get the commits to campus), really likes Levi, and indicated they would not be looking for a JUCO or grad transfer. That was at least as of September 21. He went on about how special he thinks Levi is. Based on what he said, and his tone, it appeared that he is comfortable slotting in Levi as the starter next season. A lot can happen between now and then though.

I'm not saying I don't agree with any of the suggestions posted in this thread regarding getting a QB. I'm just reporting on what Napier said to the QB club.

I am very excited for what Chandler Fields brings as well. Difficult to have a true freshman ready to play though.

Naps is gonna do what he has to do to get through this season with only a half season to recruit after he was hired. Levi is a WR, CB, etc. NO QB PERIOD...

Nope. Never seen him play DB.. But I saw him play QB. That he is not!! He too good an athlete to not be on the field somewhere other than QB.

Well, this is in direct contradiction to what Napier thinks of him and that is not real popular around here these days so I'm a little surprised to see so many people who don't think he's a QB.

Yet he almost won the job against Nunez. He lost it the last scrimmage but they were neck and neck in fall practice. Also, Napier stated in the last press conference that he has no plans to bring in more QB's next year and liked what he saw from Lewis.

Actually that game got changed to Yenni stadium due to scheduling conflicts at Tulane. I have seen him twice this year once on TV and once in person. I don’t see him being ready to start at this level next year. I’d say a red shirt would be best and hopefully by his RS sophomore year he’d be ready. To me that would be best we could hope for.

This is funny. Last year people here were upset when Hud burned his red shirt. He was the QB of the future. Now he has a few underwhelming performances and a position change is needed. Lewis is a QB. Has been playing QB for quite a while now. He may not go down as an all time great for us, but not everyone can. What on earth would make people think he is a DB. So far we have moved 3 athletes to different positions. The two QB's have had zero impact at their new position and our WR turned CB is having a very rough time as a starter. Napier is an offensive coach who works with QB regularly. It's obviously a position that needs upgrading. Let's see what happens.
