  1. UL Softball Head to Pete's: NCAA Selection Show Watch Party Today at Pete's



    Fans of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team are invited to watch the NCAA Tournament Selection Show with the team on Sunday (May 13) at 8 p.m. at Pete's on Johntson (3903 Johnston Street).

    The Division I Softball Committee will unveil its selections for the 2018 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament at 9 p.m., live on ESPN2._

    The 64-team field will be selected from 283 NCAA Division I institutions sponsoring the sport of softball. Of the 64 teams, 32 teams will receive automatic qualification, and 32 more teams will be selected on an at-large basis. Sixteen teams will be seeded and each of the seeded teams will be placed at one of the regional sites.

    NCAA Regionals will be held May 18-20, 2018 on 16 campus sites. At each campus site, a four-team, double-elimination tournament will be conducted and the 16 winning teams advanced to the Super Regionals.

    There’s rarely a lock in regional placement, but it’s a high probability. Then again, we were there last year. The committee may not want a repeat. Then again, they may not care.

    I recall the year a 49 wins weren’t enough to get an at large.

    It's probably going to be the same old NCAA ______t at the Baton Rouge regional. 1. Tigers, 2. Cajuns, 3. Cowgirls, & 4. (fill in some team from the east coast).

    Being a McNeese fan, I'd rather go somewhere else and play somebody new.

    It would be interesting if the Cajuns were sent to Texas A&M. Then it would be Glasco against his former head coach.
