I predicted 10-2 for the 2017 season, and we were honestly a few plays here and there from such being a possible reality. Had a few things gone our way and it happened, 12-0 would be the logical goal for this season.

We got impatient in the leadership of the team, though, and fired Hud. Kind of interrupting the team vibe a bit.

This coming season is going to be rough with some growing pains. The first 6 games will really tell the tale. If we can come out of there 2-4 with a revenge win over a staunch NM State team, we’ll have a good shot at being bowl eligible at the end of the season.

Hate to break it to you but the more we win and sell out the Dome, the more we will be hated in Louisiana. I would love to be hated, it means we’re finally relevant.

Other state schools may hate us, but the Super Dome loves us and the City of New Orleans loves us because of what we bring. We proved we can bring 50,000 fans for a bowl game. Opening the season with Miss State and a packed Dome will help prove and ensure that we can bring this every year, as long as our program is winning. This would be like opening the season with a bowl game. And, every P5 team would love the New Orleans exposure and experience. Scheduling this game will be easy each year and serve as a home game for us. The national exposure would be extraordinary and help change our perception and attractiveness to another conference.

I long for bigger and better bowls as well.

....but we would need an undefeated (or one loss season) to get to anything better than the NOLA Bowl due to Sunbelt tie-ins.

So until we have that perfect season or get out of the Sunbelt, the reality is the NOLA Bowl is where we are most likely headed.

For us to get that biggest venue possible I think we’d need a perfect season plus winning the last ten games of the preceding season. That’s right 23 straight wins.

That’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is that we need to realize that when you hit the reset button on a program that is already just a short ways away from a couple huge seasons, it kind of messes with the team mojo and bit.

Coach Billy has the opportunity to be successful, but there will be some growing pains.

If we have a really nice season, we will be talked about in some other possibilities.. Ill bet our AD even listens.. Maybe even negotiates??

I enjoy it. Beats the hell out of Government Street in Mobile. There is not a better "minor" bowl, period. End of story.
