UL Football 2018 Preview: Louisiana Football

The conventional wisdom was that the 38-year-old – 39 by the start of the season – was a head coaching job away from being ready for a Power Five gig, but ASU could’ve kept him on as an assistant head coach.

Pretty good analysis from a national publication. Interesting in that they noted Lewis was the best QB in the spring game. That occurred 4 days ago and made it into a review from a national perspective. Prediction is 6 and 6. That makes sense to me.

I’m on board totally. Expecting bigger things immediately. Cajuns upset stAte and get to championship game at least.

Well article also said that Napier may be the next young superstar coach. If that is the case, then maybe we do surprise folks.

Fairly accurate analysis of us. Very nice comments on Napier and about as positive as could be expected considering all the unproven players we have on defense. Did the Georgia transfer make it on campus yet?

There was a DL transfer who looked impressive in spring game. Don't remember his name or where he cam from however. Also, we need to realize the article honestly said our defense was terrible last year and improvement there will be key going forward. Other than playing the defense correct from a schematic standpoint, I saw little to encourage me on that side of the ball last Saturday. Recall in the televised portion the White team led by Lewis never punted. That is a concern to me. Those late signing transfers need to be able to contribute on Day 1.

I have already been on record saying our defense will be similar to last years. I am just hoping we can increase our scoring average to the low to mid 30’s.
