I can speak 1st hand on some elements of baseball recruiting. UL baseball has a large number of commitments for 2018 already signed & most importantly next year's 2019 HS grads is a very large group, I've seen the list of commits and it is quite impressive....these 2019 guys can sign in Dec.
.........plus there are a few early HS commits from 2020 and even one from 2021. Other than LSU, only UL in Louisiana is getting early commits from prominent HS players.
No Turbine, the stadium a lot better than I imagined.
Top 6 teams get a bye. 7 plays 10 in a one game playoff with the winner getting the No. 2 seed. 8 plays 9 in a one game playoff with the winner getting the 1 seed. Regardless if you are 1 through 6, you are in the same boat. Advantage of 1 and 2 is playing a team that may have used up pitchers and likely threw their best already. It may be doubtful we can win four games in the tournament. However at this point it is our best bet for a regional bid.
The signee that is the most likely to be drafted high enough to consider signing is Dexter Jordan. There are several other HS signees that might be drafted similar to Cantrelle, but are likely not high enough to warrant decent signing bonuses.
The JC arms have not pitched well from the last stats I recently looked at, although that doesn't mean any of them won't be drafted. But it is highly unlikely that any of them get drafted in the top 12 rounds according to the recent college draft reports.
I don't know anything about the recent JC commits, so I will wait to hear those announced. But overall, there on a few early signees to be concerned about with the MLB Draft.
