LOUISIANA La. — Two years ago, Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns softball program sent the first Louisiana native to the USA Softball Team Camp trials.
Now, the program is set to send its second Louisiana product and a representative for the third straight year.
USA Softball recently announced the list of 46 athletes who were invited to participate in the 2003 Olympic Trials, Sept. 2-7, at the ARCO Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
On the list were current Louisiana sophomore and Metairie native Danyele Gomez and former All-American third baseman Becky McMurtry.
Both will be competing with the other 44 players for spots on the USA Softball Women’s National Team that will participate in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, Aug. 14-23, 2004.
