Now Handsome needs Tommy John. Long rehab. Min. 12 Months to 24 months. Get better Mr. Monica.
Robe said he had a UCL injury from when he was at Arizona I believe that wasn't treated then and had crept back up. To the best of my knowledge, because he isn't a pitcher the rehab will likely be 6-8 months. But I admittedly could be completely wrong about that.
Robe was on with Dave Shultz this morning. He said not full Tommy John surgery, with approximately 5 months of recovery. That's what I heard...
Such an unfortunate injury for a kid that came in with such high expectations. Especially after seeing him start to figure it out at the plate towards the end of last season. Hoping that he is able to rehab and end his career on a good note.
Interesting. It is either Tommy John or it isn't. There are a few doctors around the country doing a different surgery where they don't replace the ligament under certain circumstances but it isn't referred to as "Tommy John". It is also still fairly rare as far as I know. However that definitely could be what Robe is referring too.
With that said his recoup would be quicker than a pitchers even with a "Tommy John" surgery.
Best of luck to him.
McKinnon is just as good, if not better, than Monica is defensively. Neither one hit worth a ___t unless Handsome made HUGE improvement from last year. I wish him well in his recovery and look forward to having him back, but let's be careful about thinking he will be an impact player upon return.
