Just different ways of looking at the comment. I’m in agreement with THE Barisaxman in terms of the softball player loss. It was just such an unusually odd situation (softball).

This was partially the way the original post was intended to be interpreted. Additionally, one can say that the catcher is the most important position in the game and acts almost like a QB does in football. Couple that with the loss of your All-American Friday Night Ace, both because of injury, and you got yourself a major ____ty situation. This team also had high expectations heading into the year and was opening up in a brand new park.

The post about softball is an excellent response and deserves to go down as one of the biggest blows to a program heading into the start of the year. With that said one would be remiss not to point out the drama beforehand and the subsequent firing of the previous staff. It would be expected to experience some attrition and fact is this team is better off without them...they chose to walk out on their teammates...the game didn't decide it for them.

Some good points - interpretation being the key and explanation appreciated. I so agree with you that the team is better off without them - turning their back on their teammates was heartbreaking.

Like Nonc, I too follow SB much closer but it seems like every interview the loss of Gunner and Handsome comes up. Handsome is no Lucroy and although Gunner is one of the best, pitching has not let us down nearly as much as hitting has. I don't think harping on those two being out helps the situation any at all. THIS!!! That is the reason for my previous post—I think we, as fans, realize how different we’d be with Gunner and Handsome, just like softball would have a great shot at OKC with the three who left in a huff!! The difference is Robe kept using his player losses as a crutch(jmo) for our team’s poor play this season, while Glasco only talks about the players he DOES have and what HE needs to do raise their level of play!!
That being said—I’m thrilled that we’ve won our first baseball series of the season, and I hope we’ve FINALLY turned a corner! I also believe that the future looks bright for BOTH programs.

Don't forget Baseball loses their best juniors every year to the draft. We could still have Steven Sensely, Wyatt Marks, and Evan Guillory. I'm am thoroughly impressed with Glasco, though. He has done so much with what occurred before he stepped on campus. Clearly a great coach.

Nonc—Agree VERY much with you, Big Buds, and J1M—I’m a little more well-connected to softball, than baseball, but a huge fan of BOTH programs! While the circumstances were totally different, in both cases fans with high expectations were left pondering what might’ve been. I applaud Coach Glasco for not focusing on the three who walked out on their teammates, but instead on those who chose to stay and play for “LOUISIANA”! I also look forward to the future for BOTH teams!!

Well, I'm average at best at a number of things!

You are moaning over the loss of a catcher who hit barely over .200 and was a DP ball candidate every at bat if there was a runner on...have you forgotten him getting thrown out at first base from right field last season one time at least!!!get over it and stop allowing robe to use him as an excuse for his lack of coaching ability

.......Well there is not a high mound of difference (pun intended) .........in the mix are probably 3 Hall of Famers with very high post season national awards and that is big.....btw, how about the photos and signs of former players under the stands at Moore/Russo???

If Dr. Maggard gave out a Coach of the Year trophy, Coaches Glasco and Marlin would be the leading candidates.
