Thread: After heated NIT, UL and LSU are cool on the diamond

  1. UL Baseball After heated NIT, UL and LSU are cool on the diamond

About two weeks after heated NIT game between UL and LSU, the two schools meet again in baseball

It wasn’t long ago that LSU followers could be heard directing chants of “Little Brother” – and others much too profane to repeat here – at Ragin’ Cajun faithful

Read Guilbeaux's article. He is back to calling us Louisiana Lafayette and ULL, in our own Lafayette paper. LSU people must have gotten to him about our name. It is bad enough to see it in the Advocate, but there is no room for this in the Advertiser.

That article was mostly about trying to get Maineiri to say negative things about our program. Not surprisingly he refused to accommodate those desires.

I know what The Advocate does to our name, but there is no reason an Advertiser writer should not be calling us Louisiana and UL, even if he does cover LSU. He even wrote an article just prior to the NIT game about how ridiculous LSU is over our name and now he reverts to Louisiana Lafayette and ULL.

Guilbeau writes for Gannett, not just for the Advertiser.

Does the local editor have any control over what goes into the fish wrap?

In 2004 the Daily Advertiser under the direction of then editor Juli Metzger did a poll https://forumeus.com/...out-name-issue

Based on that poll she wrote an editorial that from that point on the Advertiser would exclusively use UL.

    The current editor is slipping.
