Are we happy with middle of the pack ? I am talking long term. I am talking all sports. 8 years and 1 title . Same with football, same with baseball, same with softball, same with women’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, track and field, etc. Take some of those high salaries and fund the “other” sports that are successful. I don’t care who runs the ship , I just want it to be run worth the money spent .
My opinion only , probably the minority , but in this great country, I can express it !!
Yes you have a right to the opinion. As far as being the minority, it is not probably it is definitely. In fact, you may be a minority of one in the fanbase. Nothing wrong with that as we all disagree with others on some things. However recognize in this instance that opinion has zero impact on the situation.

Gotcha CajunsMike. This attitude of mediocrity has been the downfall of UL Athletics forever .
Yvette had a national program but wasn’t given a pay raise to keep her here .
Guess what ? She picked her players and she picked her coach and she won consistently. Coach Lancon did it in track and field .
Now we pay average Joe’s lots of money for mediocrity. Ticket prices go up parking prices go up and the stadiums are half full .

I do wonder if the cost of support is driving away some fans in this economy. You can't compare the diamond sports however to the main two. Diamond sports only have to compete with half the nation as the north pays no attention to them. Also, when Yvette was here the major schools were not paying attention to softball like the SEC does now. Lack of an RCAF back then was probably a factor in her decision to leave. As far as basketball goes, I don't personally, believe this past season was one in which "mediocrity" applies as a conference championship was attained. Health situation impacted the late season tough losses which indicated depth was more of an issue than we realized to me. I would not argue with applying the term to the previous three seasons.

Paying Yvette was a small part of the equation. So that example doesn’t really work here.

Bob Marlin has his strengths and weaknesses, but the real conversation that needs to be had is how awful the SBC is. This past season is a perfect example.

I do not buy the economy keeping people away from games. People make time and spend money on what they like. Tigue is full almost every time the gate opens, for example.

Good point there. That is somewhat because of the new park and the past national success making the program relevant nationally. I do believe the basketball issue resolves on the fact that the system has made virtually all the mid major games irrelevant in the regular season. That is an exaggeration but all basketball emphasis is now on the tournament making the conference tournament the focus for the 200 plus schools in our situation.
