Thread: LSU/UL NIT matchup

    Default Nothing to gain

I keep hearing all the LSU fans repeatedly stating that they have nothing to gain by playing UL.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that by playing the Cajuns at home would be more beneficial for their RPI over teams like Alcon State, Samford, TN-Martin, UNCW, or North Florida.

Also, just imagine if they would play us in the Cajundome (since they aren’t scared) and by winning they would get a bonus on their RPI for winning on the road.

Because they ARE scared! Bob didn't say it, but I did.

And that's what they are.... Forget this "big brother" BS... Big Brother implies family... they are not my family... They are the 15 year old 180 pound fat boy in the 5th grade bullying his classmates

    Robe don't buy-in... Marlin don't buy in...
    Agree, we'll said

    One word: ARROGANCE

Aside from perhaps the biggest attendance, most profitable, most locally advertised, and most fun game of the year, yea, they have nothing to gain

The home and home is a pipe dream, even a 3 for 1 probably isn't happening if they aren't going to go on the road for more then 1 non conference game. However there is no reason to not want to schedule a game in the PMAC if they truly want better non conference games. I still like the idea of restarting the 4 team in state tournament. If a 3 year rolling RPI is really that important to their scheduling simply say whichever 3 instate schools have the best ones coming into the season get to play. Use the rolling RPI to seed them 1-4 and play it out. Schedule it each year for that 2nd weekend in December (Heisman Saturday) when you know football won't be an issue for anybody and make it a tradition that grows.

This. An early December "Louisiana Classics" tournament with us, LSU, Tulane, and LaTech, rotating the host site every year, would be too good to be true and a benefit to everybody. But it won't happen because of egos.

Once again, which Sunbelt team hosted a P5 school this year? I will make it easier for you. When was the last time a Sunbelt team hosted a P5 school? GO!
What is this, the end of time?

There hasn't been a last time, there will be a next time.

Proximity is irrelevant, meaning there are no roadblocks.

The issue is seating capacity which is a factor in football but is absolutely a plus for UL in basketball.

What your conference mates can handle is totally irrelevant to what a balanced mind would do going forward.

Actually, it was steroids and sacks of cash.

Will Wade and the A&M ruling doofuses are SCARED to play. End of story.

The nothing to gain argument is about their pride and ego, not basketball. It’s just like any other basketball game, you can gain a win, which is a win (not a loss), or a loss (which is a loss).

The nothing to gain argument is further struck down using all of Wades numbers (which he conveniently had memorized for the post game conference, as if it wasn’t preplanned or anything). What it comes down to is they are scared what a loss would do to their pride

    Home-n-Home

Give the visiting team 75% of the gate over the previous years average attendance.

Also, UGA played Fullerton in a Holiday classic involving several teams. Belmont is in Nashville, so I guess that would be similar to LSU playing at Southern. No idea what USC was thinking. Regardless, these were all one time games and not part of a home-home series.

Vanderbilt has had a home and home series for at least the last 8 years with Middle Tennesee, including when MTSU was a Sun Belt member. The game just happened to be in Nashville instead of the Murph this year.
