We have a better RPI than LSU, a better record and a better facility, yet LSU got the higher seed. We have to change the perception of who we are and who we associate with by scheduling better and winning against better competition to enable us to move to a better conference and change the perception of UL.
I think its interesting that some would rather schedule Rice and USM than Nicholls and SLU, but there are also those that complain that LSU wont schedule us but will play Troy and UAB etc.

We should not play any of those schools.

Building relationships. Our fans can travel. We should have a general policy for all sports to schedule these schools as much as possible. Some things have greater value than RPI. However, USM is the only one of that group with historically bad RPI averages.

As for Nicholls and SLU, I'm not against playing them. They just need to meet the criteria of historically good RPI averages.

    Thanks for update. Fingers crossed.

I'm trying to block out the noise around this game and to be honest, I am really looking forward to watching this one tonight!

Just to clarify, this is 5 year RPI averages.

    108-Tech
    110-Houston
    227-Tulane
    232-Southern Miss
    260-Nicholls
    265-Rice
    276-Southeastern

So really none besides the top 2 should be considered routinely.

Like I said, I would focus on scheduling Tech, Houston, Tulane, Southern Miss and Rice in as many sports as possible, every year. The main reason would be to build alliances and become familiar as possible with their fanbases and administrations. After all, these schools are the ones we want to be conference mates with, right?

Also, if we are going to dive into more Power Conference scheduling, a little breather now and then would not hurt, especially if we can accomplish ulterior motives in doing so.
