Thread: Marlin bringing the heat in the presser

Default Marlin bringing the heat in the presser

“We want to play schools in state. 73 years has been too long (the last time LSU played the Cajuns in Lafayette)....We've offered to play those guys in the past. We offered to play them last year in the exhibition game after the flooding, they wouldn't do that."

He also claimed LSU got a higher seed and host because of old-school thinking from NCAA who think LSU is better than UL and who also didn't familiarize themselves with the renovated Cajundome.

My mind has changed on all of this. I was a little psssive on the NIT but not anymore. I hope we whip their entitled, arrogant _____ES.

As you all know, I have been critical of Bob about scheduling. Good on him for laying this out publicly. We don't "need" to play LSU home and home any more than they "need" to play us. But..... an ongoing home and home series would be both inexpensive and great for both programs. It should be a no brainer.

What does LSU gain by playing the Cajuns? It seems to me that they have more to lose by playing us. Especially if they lose a game. Maybe attendance revenue? 2017 avg attendance at LSU was 7,019, UL was 3,654 I'm guessing that Wednesday's game will have a good crowd.

Actually, we do need to play them as it would help our RPI out tremendously. It sucks that they won't come here and play because they are a bunch of spineless bi&%#es, but Marlin needs to suck it up and go play them there. If he truly believed in his coaching abilities, he would play them there. Stephen F. Austin actually beat them there this year. This is not like baseball where we truly don't need them. I have been ______ed at Tony for the last several years for not telling them to go F off if they wouldn't agree to a home and home every year.

Like you, I also applaud him for calling them out on this, but now that he has done so, he needs to back it up and go whip their ___zzes.

You aren't understanding. They won't schedule us at their place.

That's not the way I read the quote above, but if that's correct then I stand corrected.

However, with regard to scheduling, I still think we should and are going to have to go on the road to play some better competition, and actually win some of those games. I do not want to see non Div. I teams on the schedule any longer.

On that we agree, I like the approach we are taking with these tournaments. But we should replace some non D-Is with P5 road games.

What does LSU lose by losing to UL? It depends on the year.

This year they would have lost nothing.

NITwits aside, everyone knows UL was better this year.

    Every year is different.

I'm ignorant so excuse the question...

but what if that is all he has to fill out his home schedule? What if truly no one comes here under any means.
