All of that was pre-determined. Once again a reminder that the current administration is thrilled with Coach Marlin. Therefore the no. of posts here voicing displeasure will have zero impact on a decision for now.
His new contract in 2015 was not an extension of a previous contract. It was a new deal entirely. This deal does not include raises or extensions. It does include a good amount of incentives for meeting certain items, like championships and GPA thresholds. For instance, Marlin is going to get $15,000 for a conference championship and $10,000 for the NIT invite. He'll get another $10,000 if we win the NIT.

Thanks for the info. I stand corrected about a likely extension.

I just wanted to see what fans expectations were yearly. It's pretty clear, there is a devoted following regardless, some that don't think Coach Marlin will advance this program any further than it is today and a few others that are done with him period.
That is a good summary of the responses here. However, there are many who do not post here but go to every game. Virtually all of those people that I talk to are happy with the direction of the program. The administration is happy as well. That does not equal satisfaction. Expectations are that what happened this year will be much more frequent. It is very unfortunate that the health issue popped up at the most inopportune time.

I imagine there are a number of fans that don't post here on RP that attend games regularly, just like there are a number that don't post and don't attend games period. I know a few of them as well.

When you look at the pieces coming back and his best (on paper) freshman class coming in, I believe we are in a position to make a nice run in next few years.

The thing I can't get on board with is the post season or bust mentality. I want to be in the post season every year but due to the conference being a 1 bid league, I can't judge a good or bad season based on post season. This year we are in the NIT with 27 win, next season we can win 20 and be in the NCAA tourney, or win 25 and not get in the NIT or the NCAA tourney. Is that 20 win season better than the other 2 strictly because it ended in the tourney? I want to consistently compete for titles and post season births but not to the point that I will view a non post season as bad.

The conference as a whole needs to schedule better to improve its standing. UL can schedule a murderers row but if everyone else is scheduling cupcakes it won't matter in the long run.
THIS! This was my point heading into the season. This was my argument against many who would only consider your season a success if you hit the NCAA tourney. That's not the case. Winning conference championships should be the primary goal every season. The NCAA tournament is a byproduct of that. If you can show that you are the best team in your conference over the course of an 18 game schedule both home and away, that is more impressive to me and will do more to build your program's base than winning those 3 games in March. I believe you will recruit better and have better attendance average wise.

Also, it doesn't mean that I want to win a conference championship but not go to the tourney. They don't have to be exclusive of one another. Do both and it will go a long way in helping your seeding when in the tournament.

Second, no. What’s ACTUALLY dumb is choosing to only surround yourself with people and opinions you agree with. That’s a great way to never learn or grow as a person.
But then you ____ on the people's opinions for which you don't agree.

Zero is an absolute value Mike. I'm sure it's registering some people are unhappy based on non production. No doubt a win, unlikely, tonight would be an additional plus for Big Fish. Let's not forget he's not top dog in the SBC.

I know some people are unhappy. More however are Ok with the status of the program at this stage. No argument that we need to have more consistent success going forward to have more people on board

Count me as happy, but not satisfied.
