Would you have had the patience with Kermit Davis to wait 9 years before getting that bid? Even better 9 years to even win 20+ games?

I do think we need a lot more consistency in program but we are in a one bid league so we are fighting for 1 spot. It has been proven over and over that you have to be near perfect to gain an at large.

Now 1 thing I think needs to happen immediately is scheduling a tougher out of conference. We need to improve our SOS and for the foreseeable future that's not happening with the conference schedule. If we can do that and continue to build on this season I will be happy. I'm not an ncaa tourney or bust guy simply because we still have to win 3 games in March to go dancing. That is a slim margin for error or like this season 2 key injuries.
Yet, Hunter at Georgia State in four years has 2 SBC Tournament Championships, 1 Regular Season Championship, 2 NCCA Tournament Bids and 1 NIT Tournament Bid. That's called progress.

This season didn't happen in a vacuum, this is season 8 for Coach Marlin. At some point, our standards need to something more than plus .500 season and 1 NCAA Tournament in 8 seasons. If this isn't clear enough to the people that keep asking why MBB doesn't have better attendance, I'm not certain what will convince them. Marlin hasn't created any new tradition of winning championships or earning NCAA bids.

And in none of those seasons would GSU have got an at large.

Again I'm not disputing we need more consistency or progress. I am not going to be an ncaa or bust guy. Now if we dont make progress or show consistency next year I will not be happy.

BUT we could very well win 20 games and be in an ncaa tourney or win 25 and not make a post season tourney. Both of those scenarios will have fans crapping on good seasons.

Never said it was the norm. What I did say is that we will never be seriously considered for an at large if we continue to schedule our non conference games like Marlin has done. We must schedule better and WIN better games.

I am not interested in UL being the norm; I want much better than that for my school.

The NCAA committee chair just explained that MTSU did play p5 teams on the road this year, but they lost every game. That is why they did not get an at large bid.

At no time have I mentioned anything about an at large bid. My point in bringing up Georgia State is to simply illustrate their success in bringing in Hunter to change the culture and in four short seasons in the SBC he has 2 NCAA bids, 1 NIT bid, 2 SBC Tournament Championships and 1 Regular Season Championship. Marlin has gotten a pass for playing in the CIT and achieving mediocrity until 2014.

That is a lie. They beat Vanderbilt and Ole Miss, and lost to USC, Auburn and Miami. All three losses were to top 35 teams.

You’re missing the bigger issue. Marlin is not even competitive against bigger programs. He is continually getting out coached and gets his ___ handed to him.

And all losses were very close.

That is what I heard him say. If I heard incorrectly, that is on me. Were the two wins on the road?
