How is JaKeenan Gant on the 3rd team All-SBC, but is also newcomer and defensive player of the year?!?!?!?!?

I would think winning those POY awards would mean you have to be 1st team worthy, 2nd at worst.

Its all politics. Each coach trades their vote to get their one good player a high honor and others deserving on a deep team get booted out. Starts in biddy basketball and still not immune at the college level no matter how much readily available stats make the voters look like a bunch of political hacks.

Frank was a stud this year but across the board statistically, and that is what these awards are based on, Simonds was better statistically in every category outside of 3pt%.

Who said I was reconciling anything? A strong argument can be made for Gant on second team. I don't think his overall numbers were going to get him on first team but second team seemed a lock.
