Who will make you happy? Which teams would get you excited? I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you weren’t too thrilled with Youngstown state and ucsb. People were trashing Harvard this year in the sense that it wasn’t a name fans could get excited about. Wku, mtsu and UNO don’t want to play us. Mcneese probably won’t after this year. SFA won’t come here. Houston is out of our league now. Bob has has a good relationship with McMahon and could see us playing lsu in the future but it surely wont be in Lafayette. So tell me who you would like to get here.
Only 3 of the 5 are freshmen. Two are from JC ranks and the redshirt progressed last year throughout practice. The two JC guys are also mature physically as they both have 3 years of playing experience. Fortunately the covid year allows them to have 2 years of eligibility remaining. Yes it is unlikely the pure freshman make a big impact but It is reasonable to expect at least one of the three contributes.
The AD had directed the department to scale the no. Of non D1 games to two and then one. I believe we only had one non D1 home game in 2019-20. Covid then hit which made that plan financially difficult to follow. Virtually all the SBC schools went back to 3 non D1 games at that point. Some mid majors like Murray State went to 4. Now this is partially due to major schools trying to minimize the no. Of true non conference road games they play. LSU played ZERO last season. Of course many of those non D1 opponents do little to help teams prepare for conference play. App won a game by 80 points last year. We should be beyond the Covid situation now which is why the new rule was put in place. As far as schools being reluctant to play here, that comment was in reference to the difficulty in getting more home and home deals done. Beyond the state teams, we did get one going with a good Samford team (only lost 2 conference games) last season. We should be playing them in Birmingham this coming year. Hopefully we can find more of those matchups going forward. The deal with the MAC will also help. We will play one home game and one road game from that league. I personally think we should go to 20 conference games instead of 18. We simply could play one East team twice instead of not playing one whatsoever.
Creighton’s best player portals to Kansas State…over Alabama and Kentucky.

I’m not sure any basketball player’s dream is to get to Omaha . . .
The reduction in non D1 games will actually hurt the NET since buy games will be against lesser opponents. The non D1 games are not counted in NET calculations. However more D1 games will do a better job in helping prepare for conference play. As far as being a one bid league goes, this past season 23 of the 32 conferences were one bid leagues. In recent years it has been 24 of 32 at times.
Personally, I just want to see D1. I don’t have much interest in going to the Dome to see us beat Panhandle State by 50. I get that probably means SWAC. I get my ticket season ticket regardless, but I’ll usually skip the non-D1s (and _____ about them here…for good measure).
