Most people who participate here and are in town will likely attend. Problem is there are not enough of the general folk who care any longer and I am not sure much can be done about that. We do and will continue to draw better than the great majority of the other southern mid majors however.
I am from Thibodaux and follow Nicholls sports closely. I happen to know the startIng pitcher for Nicholls really well and he pitched an amazing game. I spoke to him after the game last night and he said, “man, I couldn’t understand why they were so late on my fastball. I was only throwing it in the mid 80’s. It looked like they couldn’t catch up to it so we used the fast ball all night”
I’m here to tell you, if we can’t hit a fast ball coming at 85mph, then we are in bigger trouble then everyone thinks.
But, I will tell you this. Nicholls starter(Jake) is a big time competitor and reminds me a lot of Dmo 2 years ago. He’s a pretty good pitcher.
With Hud, we all had a pretty good idea what was up with him, once we saw multiple years of abject failure, that he was unfit as a head coach. We know that isn't the case with Tony. The man has been doing this for decades. If we have a sharp downturn, especially in the area we all know he isn't concentrating on, it's highly plausible he is just ignoring it for the most part, until it becomes a big enough issue. That's magnified with the continued employment of Talbot.
Honestly, I have a beginning for my theory. 2013. When he hired Babineaux as an associate head coach. We've had really good success, but we constantly make simple errors running the basepaths, and we've had a penchant for small ball. I've been following the team since I was in college in the mid 2000's. And I've noticed a difference since Babineaux got the promotion.
Hitting takes time to improve and it doesn't look like it's getting any better any time soon. Sure the hitting coach is probably at fault but he's not at the plate. These guys aren't just hitting about average. They are catastrophic
You sound like someone who wasn't at the game last night. I'm here to tell you, there was 4,900 actual butts in the seats and the place was absolutely packed.
Nobody is quitting on this team and fans are still showing up in droves. Quit with the lies about "not enough people care anymore."
