    Spot on.

Many Regional years, our pitching covered up some pretty awful hitting for most of the year.

Can this guy help our batters get better?

And many years that's what ran us out of regionals, being one dimensional.

We lost a lot of arms. Pitching will likely drop off this year. Every school in the country deals with the same draft, tho.

I wouldn’t say every school deals with it the same amount and losing guys early is something that is fairly new to this program and will take time to adjust on how to handle it. Our recent success has brought on new challenges with recruiting and retention. We are recruiting more guys likely to go straight out of high school and more likely to leave early. With Burke, lee and Harris all eligible we could be facing the same next year.

We should have won 2 of 3 in Austin. We should have won 2 of 3 this past weekend. If you replay these games in alternate universes 10 times, the majority of those times we would be 4-3 right now.

The SOS is such that a 35 win season probably puts us in at-large consideration.

If after 2 more weeks were still upside down on the season, I'll flip out then.

I do believe that given the pitching focus of the head coach, we will always be playing catch up with hitting more years than not. Nature of the beast.
Agreed on the first part. But I don’t think the next two weeks will be pretty. At the moment, one won in Houston would be huge in my mind.

But it’s baseball. The bats can turn on at any time. The pitching is there 75 percent of the time.

    Working while he waits.

There is only one MLB draft. Obviously, schools with better talent lose more players. The challenge is replacing them consistently. The new ballpark will help. These are good problems. Hopefully, we get to the point when MLB consistently drafts positions other than Cajun pitchers. Yes, those guys are most likely gone in the draft. I agree losing six front line arms in two years is a big loss for any team.

In one post we got a coach riding it out to retirement in another post the same coach is putting out talent that’s good enough to be selected as juniors in the draft. Are we talking about the same person?

Im just saying with more success comes different sets of challenges that present growing pains that will have to be dealt with differently than in the past. We will need to depend on hitting more in the future than in the past because as you said, more often than not the draft will hit us on the mound not at the plate.

    It's funny.

Everybody knew what to expect when Boulanger's teams took the diamond. Those boys were the definition of swagger. They were ready to battle at the plate, every night. Yet, Boulanger's teams , as of a few years ago, actually had a lower cumulative ERA than Robe's. Then, if they didn't get the point, Jagneaux would tear them a new one.

Pernaps, Robe's buttoned down, cliche talking manner of speaking doesn't translate to swagger on the diamond? Maybe his getting tossed is just what the doctor ordered?
