Boulanger's teams, while having some talented players (and pitchers), statistics are kind of skewed due to the level of competition they played at the time. I recall MANY series against the like of Arkansas Tech, Houston Baptist, SWAC teams, etc. That played a large part in some of the gaudy stats and W/L records.
That said, they had some tough SOBs on those teams and like you said, definitely had a ton of swagger
The good and/or bad news with this team is, we’ll know who they really are in the next 4 weeks. They’ll either colapse or improve greatly by playing these teams. You’ll have your answers soon.
Won't collapse. Team hitting will improve (Cantrelle won't end up .175 BA) ending up at .250ish BA, not much higher OB%. Pitching will not be as strong as last year, about where we are now 3.7 ERA. There will likely be some outliers, overachievers at the plate, but could be balanced with some disappointments.
