Boulanger's teams, while having some talented players (and pitchers), statistics are kind of skewed due to the level of competition they played at the time. I recall MANY series against the like of Arkansas Tech, Houston Baptist, SWAC teams, etc. That played a large part in some of the gaudy stats and W/L records.

That said, they had some tough SOBs on those teams and like you said, definitely had a ton of swagger

In other words, the players Talbot brought in can’t play?

So Robe and his “staff” have “missed on hitters” for 3 years straight?

We should have won 2 of 3 in Austin. We should have won 2 of 3 this past weekend. If you replay these games in alternate universes 10 times, the majority of those times we would be 4-3 right now.

The SOS is such that a 35 win season probably puts us in at-large consideration.

If after 2 more weeks were still upside down on the season, I'll flip out then.

I do believe that given the pitching focus of the head coach, we will always be playing catch up with hitting more years than not. Nature of the beast.
I’m not pressing the eject button yet either, but we “should have won” about 10 more games in similar fashion last year too.

The good and/or bad news with this team is, we’ll know who they really are in the next 4 weeks. They’ll either colapse or improve greatly by playing these teams. You’ll have your answers soon.

I agree 100%. If our recruiting and coaching of position players was equal to our pitchers, we would be dealing with trolls from our regional opponents fans we host every year, whining about only getting 600 seats per team.

Won't collapse. Team hitting will improve (Cantrelle won't end up .175 BA) ending up at .250ish BA, not much higher OB%. Pitching will not be as strong as last year, about where we are now 3.7 ERA. There will likely be some outliers, overachievers at the plate, but could be balanced with some disappointments.

    It is what it is.

I told my wife in June 2014. Enjoy it. These are the good old days.

The pitchers have no blame to how this season has begun. We've already lost games where the pitchers held the opponent to 3 and 4 runs, and twice lost when we allowed 5. Scoring 5 runs a game in college baseball isn't too much to ask.

BTW, a 3.71 era would have been 34th in the country last season, just ahead of Vanderbilt.
A 3.30 era would have been 11th in the country last season, just ahead of the 2017 Ragin Cajuns, who ended the year at 3.31
Our pitching gives up runs early. Now with a weak hitting team the early bad numbers matteres more than a high powered offense.
