Got to love the free throw shooting the last 10 minutes of the game...kept hearing Joe Dean.."string music"...
Really hard to believe that a program with the historical success of the Cajuns just went 18 years in between regular season championships. Hopefully this is the first of many over the next 18.
Congratulations to the 2017-18 season Sun Belt Conference Champions,
the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns!
The SBC Champions, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, "INVITE" all basketball fans to come watch them in their last two home games! They have a chance to set historic records.
A chance to go UNDEFEATED at home!
A chance to win 27 regular season games!
If you like winning basketball you only have to get to the Cajundome next Thursday and Saturday. If you have been to a game this year you know what a tremendous season it has been. If not, you have two more chances to become a witness to basketball history in the making for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
This team deserves to have 8,000 fans watch a game featuring the Sun Belt Conference Champions!
These next two games should have the two largest crowds of the year none the less.
Looking forward to a filled out 'bowl'.
Way to go Cajuns!
SBC Champions!
In 2004, the Cajuns were the SBC Western Division Champs but the league did not recognize a regular season champion. We did have a better record than the Eastern Division Champion however and were the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. We won the tournament and proceeded to lose to NC State in the NCAA tournament in a very competitive game. However, the 2004 wins were later vacated due to an eligibility issue. Therefore you have to go back to 1982 to find the last time a Cajun basketball team won a recognized outright conference title. Note, their have been shared titles along the way. I know 1992 was one of those and perhaps 2000. Their is another thread about the 1982 team on this forum. It contains an article that appeared in SI back then.
Man I'd love to hear the USA fans right now talk about that FT discrepancy. You don't see it often when the visiting team comes in and the FT margin is one sided in their favor. To me, that was the key stat in the game. We shot a worse FG percentage and certainly didn't hit it as well as they did from 3.
Which is why we get the free throw advantage. Those other teams are selling out trying to slow the offense. Sometimes it works, and sometimes we’re gonna go to the line.
"Bob Marlin displays such a pattern of reprehensible behavior."
That is one of the quotes from the USA forum...LOL. They were not happy about the tech that their player got because apparently Marlin bumped him as the teams were going to their benches during their big run. TV didn't show it but that's crazy if it did happen.
Could there be an inadvertent bump? Maybe, but Big Fish ain’t bumping players from the opossing teams. It’s fun to be hated, I recall when they hated our team and their altered bats. Enjoy the hate while you can, it’s fleeting.
