They handle the Alabama schools on the road and win against stAte on Thursday, I would imagine a huge crowd at the Dome with Baseball and Softball being on the road.

That was UTA’s problem, it was Hervey and maybe 1 or 2 other guys. Other than that, no one else on their team really contributed. I’d take what we have over having a 1 NBA type talent any day.

It was Hervey in the 1st and Neal in the 2nd. They have no help at all. They don’t play well together and you can definitely sense their is something going on with their team

Note that our BPI is still 46, and Middle Tennessee is at 47. MT has an RPI of 23, and is still only projected as an 11 seed as an auto qualifier, and is rarely mentioned as a possible at large.

In my opinion, the committee will say that their RPI qualifies them for an at large, but the BPI isn't quite there. Or something similar. Remember the BPI was invented by ESPN, whose lack of advocacy for mid majors has long been established.

The BPI factors in to everyone and I would think could help a team like us as it considers Pace of play, margin of victory and points scored over average etc...

First and foremost though, let's keep in mind that the selection process will not only feature these two metrics. It will feature many to be taken into consideration like Ken Pom, Sagarin ratings, SOR and KPI rankings. These metrics will help reduce the selection committee's reliance on RPI for seeding and admission to the tournament. Also, there are now levels of wins known as quadrant 1,2,3,4 etc. You can beat a good team on the road and get a quadrant 1 victory which will be looked upon very favorably to the selection committee moving forward.

I like the BPI because it helps take into consideration our style and can't hurt, especially when we are winning road conference games by double digits as BPI also takes into consideration location of the game.

Thinking back, Long wasn't NBA talent his sophomore year when he played alongside junior Elfrid Payton who was NBA talent. ....

So I feel LA has seen "1 NBA type talent" teams twice in recent years and I agree .

This team is preferable, hands down, not even close.

Speaking of Long but he looked like he was in fantastic shape last night. That was thinner than I've ever seen him by far.

No joke....at one point in the 2nd half they had a missed pass around mid-court that went out of bounds and created a t/o....the two players openly fussed at each other on the court. Not a good sign for the team.

Frustrating for me, and I'm sure most Cajun fans, that after such a fine season we're literally forced to win the conference tournament to get a ticket to the NCAA's.

    Now, check out Oklahoma.

RPI of 34, 6-8 in conference, lost 5 in a row, lost 8 out of their last 10, yet we have Joe Lunardi talking about what they need to do to get to the NCAA tournament.

Okay, I know they're playing in the Top-rated conference in college basketball, I see that they've got a decent win or two along the way, but really, how many teams from a single conference really need to be in the tournament, 6 or 7?

    Rant over.

Bet you a dollar to a nickel we could lose 5 straight in the Big XII.

But we'll never know because we never get to play most of those guys, certainly never home and home. So, you're penalized because you don't play the tough schedule but it's next to impossible to schedule a tough schedule.

I'd like to hire you young man, your grades look great out of college, but since you've never worked for anyone, I can't very well hire a man with no experience.
