LOL. Nobody thought we'd be worth a ____. We were picked 5th I believe in the preseason SBC poll and many of you guys were talking about baseball in November. The basketball team wasn't on many fans' radars earlier and the only talk about the MBB was about how Marlin has underperformed and is overpaid. You're right, nobody talked about this poll at all because we never would have been considered.

Don't lump all of us in the "nobody" crowd. Some of us who follow basketball closely knew better and knew this team would be "special".

Imagine if Mark hudspeth would have promoted our G5 ranking how that would have went over? Like a boner at a swim meet. You think baseball or softball would recognize a “midmajor” poll?

That's the problem with you guys. You take things to extremes. Nobody is saying anything about having that distinction as a goal for the program or the season. The poll isn't going anywhere. Its an unofficial deal that is only put together to stir discussion, which apparently its doing here. This is not a goal of anyone associated with this university or fanbase. Do you think it is? The staff is only using it on social media because its out there and its positive about our university and NO, its not us accepting mediocrity nor pushing for it. In basketball, mid major is a discussion and a real thing. You know what? Whenever we are talked about moving forward we will be discussed as a mid major by the major pundits whether we like it or not. But they will be talking about us at least.

I’m fine with fans and people in the league discussing it. Im not fine with our brand being tied to it, not fine with our official social media sites and coaches WANTING and pushing for it to be used as a talking point. Huge difference.

Okay. Deep breaths. Here's reality.

In basketball we ARE a mid major. And we ARE in a mid major conference. Teams in this league haven't done enough to shed the distinction.

This school is about to win its SECOND conference regular season title in TWENTY SEVEN years.
There will come a time when we shed the distinction.

That time hasn't happened yet.

Being in a mid major poll is not going to kill our recruiting. Being in a mid major poll might get us scorn from bigger schools and bigger leagues, but we already get that.

Some of you beat Gonzaga to death here. Guess what? We're right behind them in this poll.

Who we are right now is not what we strive to be. But this poll isn't going to keep us from where we want to go.

Im talking about reality of seeing the same college coaches at our practices every year. We didn’t always have kids they were interested in or kids that would consider them but they were there every year. .

And football is the one sport we really are in a second tier, we really can’t win a national championship. Nobody would tout being in the “mid major poll” by some random source. Our fans want to be in the top 25...the real top 25. We can be a Gonzaga or Wichita state but not if we keep reminding everyone we are second tier.

I saw the same coaches from the same schools every year. If it’s your area as a coach, that’s your area. If you drive all the way from Arkansas to the Acadiana area you are going to go see every coach you know even if he doesn’t have a kid at that point. Why would you drive all that way and not go see your contacts? He may tell you about a kid that he knows about or played against at another school that you don’t have connections at and get you in. Again, I don’t think you have a grasp on how it works.

Not sure what you are talking about coach on coach touching or what kind of recruiting you witnessed growing up but i never saw that. I sure hope our coaches a pushing that we are receiving votes and pushing to break the top 25 instead of this other deal.

I agree with the above.

HS players probably won't be paying much attention beyond old school, at least not until they start getting recruited.

Hopefully they hear your name organically besides "hello."
