This game just goes to show you how AWFUL the SUN WORST is...maybe we can buy a bid to the LHSAA tourney in the private school class...

The other team wants to win too.
I agree with Mike that we should have stopped the high trap earlier. I'm all for aggressive defense and I would like to see us play that a bit more but we were not getting turnovers and they were hitting the open shots created by beating our double team. I'm also not sure why Ced didnt have more of a green light in the 2nd. The kid was stroking in the 1st.
Saturday will tell us a lot about this team.
I did speak about those things. That's how apparent our lack of defense was last night. We scored 92 points while not playing all that great but shooting close to our averages in all aspects, the difference was the defense and easy shots we gave up both on the perimeter and in the lane. Points in Paint was shockingly bad.
I have to agree with this. You look at our winning margin and we are double digits positive in our wins. You look at our losses and we are similar differential but in the opposite direction. You would think that a team that is 20-3 would have been pretty competitive in OOC games against teams like Wyoming and Ole Miss. Even playing Clemson you would hope for a little more of a contest although they are a legit ranked team.
I expected us to lose soon in conference. I argued with those who even talked about winning out. That really wasn't in the cards, however, i didn't expect us to defend like we did on that stage with a pretty seasoned team. We really didn't have much poise. We were blowing open layups and Marquetti looked like he was peeing his pants every time the ball left his hand.
If I'm considered one of those that "argued with you about going unbeaten in conference" I made it clear that it was only "logical" that we would go undefeated in conference if we didn't face a truly better team. And last night... we clearly did. But we did not lose because "odds" or "logic" caught up with us. GASt beats the Cajuns 4 out of 5 times. So... if we're going to win the conference tourney... we better hope the 1 out of 5 happens at the right time.
Bull____. That team is not that much better to beat us 4 out of 5 times. The "logic" of losing was that the conference season is a long season. You can't run from playing on the road, no matter how insignificant some here want to make that sound its not easy and winning percentages on the road versus at home don't lie. My point was that I wasn't going to let one loss, particularly to one of the top two teams in the league on the road in a tough environment change my expectation of the team.
The nature of the loss was not what we wanted but we easily could have slipped up against a lesser team with a bad shooting night and foul trouble. I saw things to be concerned about like our defense but I was also somewhat impressed with our ability to score and shoot on the road.
Bull____ right back at ya. We played on the road and scorched other SBC teams. We ran into a better team last night. Play em again... home or away... more than likely lose. But again... we're the best Bob has had... we're good in numerous ways... and we still even have a shot at winning the conference tourney... but GASt is better on more nights than not. If the Cajun team doesn't agree (and you don't really matter)... I'm all about seeing it during tourney time.
But again... the odds didn't catch up with the Cajuns undefeated run... a better team did.
