Does Tony st Julian have grade issues?
McDowell can give us some reps inside, but he is mostly an edge upfield defensive lineman. Porter is a true NT, he isn t quick enough to play anywhere else and frankly is over weight. Manac is also hybrid OLB/DE type lineman, but he is not a DT.
Today UL has Kidd, Hill and Booker , with Johnson and Baker with no playing time. Getting another 1 or 2 interior JC DL is critical to this class. Until that need is addressed , it still fall's short in being what is needed and what was expected.
Then you better hope Porter loses 30 pounds over the summer. Kidd is your starter at NT if he gets in shape, McDowell is your 5 Tech. Who starts at the 7 Tech, Booker? We are extremely inexperienced with Booker and Hill. Hill is undersized if you are playing true 3-4 front, we still need another JC DT that can play multiple positions.
Let me also add that we lost a future left tackle in Jones. Mitchell is a right tackle, so there is a need for a JC there now. Overall the class is solid and these coaches worked their butts off collectively. But if you aren't filling your needs, your class has holes. Hopefully he will find several more before May.
D.J. Looney was recruiting him to Mississippi State way before Hud got fired. D.J. Looney is the only reason we ever had a chance with him here in the first place. The kid is from Starkville and got an offer to play in the SEC in his home town. I imagine he was their fall back guy when another OL recruit didn’t come through and that’s they jumped on him late.
I'm excited to see what this staff do with a full recruiting period devoted to UL.
Is there a way to stream NSD party?
I was not expecting a miracle with a head coach just fresh from signing a contract. No miracle with a staff just completed. But somehow our staff pulled it off. Napier isn't a fool and he knows we need more D line depth. We have the staff to do it. I'm I upset that we lost 3 recruits to sec schools? YES. But i'm salivating at what they will do with a full year. Good day for Cajun Nation!!
I'm with you. Napier and his staff had 5-6 weeks to establish a relationship with recruits. And add to the fact that they missed the early signing period, he did what he could. I can't wait to see what they do next year. I've already told my wife that I want to be at that 1st game!
