No blaming the coaching staff was they were put in a bad spot timing wise ... This class is just weak lucky to get 4-5 starters

Thought with the money we spent on staff that we would have made a bigger splash. In addition to the early signing period hurting us, I think losing our DC probably hurt as well.

Absolutely. We'll win some, we'll lose more of those battles, but the point is, this staff is not scared to go after the players we want and need. Don't let these guys tell you this is an "average at best" class. There are at least 4 different makers in this class. Immediate impact guys.

I'm more disappointed that we didn't fill a big need in DL with depth, but Napier wanted game changers, not roster slot fillers. I'm in full agreement with that approach.

Understood.. my question was more player wise. How does this class stack up to his first class.

We have the 6th weakest class in FBS... if you are into that sort of thing

Why doesn’t everyone wait and see what the staff does with remaining handful of scholorships they have left before judging the class and it’s potential impact.

Well, I think half this class will have a pretty substantial impact immediately. Espcially LBs, OLs.and McDowell.

    Good grief, this.

Folks, I would love to have had Southall and Jones, but outside of a handful of teams (and that may be high) every program had recruits they lost today. Bama, LSU, Ohio State all lost verbal commits today.

Yes we lost out on Gooden, Southall, Jones and Knight, but we did get Porter. This is the way we have to attack it right now. Target 5 and get 1. 20% is not great, but honestly our program isn't great right now. We will be good at about 35% and very good at 45-50%. It is all about filling the recruiting funnel of talent at the G5 level.

Those of you that like to see who else is recruiting our targets got a birds eye view. If we get in early on the next class and develop relationships we will rarely lose kids to other G5 schools. But if we are recruiting the right kids, we will always be in danger of losing targets to P5 schools. I was unsure about how the early signing period would effect us, but now, after the fact, not signing kids early hurt us. Instead of us having the bulk of our class locked up early and looking for some quality kids with no big offers later, we had all of our class exposed to P5 schools looking for late editions. Signing kids early prevents those players from being poached.
