An Abbeville woman turned herself into the Vermilion Parish Sheriff Department Wednesday after the Chreene family learned she allegedly stole more than $50,000 from Maxi-Mart Convenience Store in Abbeville.

Chataigner Renee O’Neil was arrested and charged with the felony crime of Theft. As of Friday, she was still in the Vermilion Parish Holding Facility. Her bond is set at $60,000.

O’Neil, a single parent, has been working for the Chreene family for nine years. For six years, she worked with the Benoit family helping operate TNT Crawfish next to MaxiMart.
