Thread: Basketball recruits

If somehow Coach Marlin and his staff could pull this off and land Brown Jr., this could be the start of returning this program to glory! Getting Brown, to go along with the previous early signees, and putting them together with the guys that will be returning from this seasons 24-4 (and counting) team would set the Cajuns up for even more success i the next few years. And as we all know, success breeds success! It might be a long shot, but getting a visit is a start!

I think Fogle only played one year here, 72-73, the last year before the death penalty. That was Lamar's last year. Don 't remember if Fogle was a 5 star. Your memory is probably better than mine.

Maybe George McGinnis? I know the spelling is off. 2017 hall of fame inductee.

Consistent success is what it will take to get the crowds back to what they were in the past. That and some meaningful post season success.

    Brilliant!!

Did they rank by stars back then?

Have no idea Turbine. My memory is not that good. I do remember that Fogle played with attitude. On defense, saw him slap a guy in the face once. He was called for a foul but the guy he was defending was intimidated to say the least.

After the death penalty Fogle transferred to Canisius where he led the nation in scoring at least one year. I was working in New Orleans in the mid 70's, after his college career, and watched when he was trying out for the NO J___. Fun times.

Remembering those days, man I feel old. Feels good though to watch our Cajuns now. Fun group to follow.

There were no star ratings back then but Fogel was generally considered the #1 prospect in the Chicago area.....Ebron would have been a 5.....Toney was Mr. Basketball in High School in Alabama....George Almones was a premium prospect in Football...

I agree Mike. Getting a 5 star like Brown would certainly help to maintain success during the regular season and would be the kind of talent needed to have a reasonable chance of some post season success as well. It could also possible lead to attracting other higher profile players to Louisiana as well.

Brown could be a program changer. Not only in his play on the court and helping us win hopefully but also showing other mid level and perhaps top level talent that coming here is a viable option.

It would also be cool to have 3 former players' sons to come in one class.

Kobe Julien (Wayne), Jordan Brown (Dion), and Eli Mouton (Eric)

Speaking of basketball...does anyone know why a guy like Seneca Knight from Northside is not getting more attention on the recruiting front? He is a 6'6 kid that can shoot and play above the rim. He looks a lot like Tiras Wade.
