We cut it down from 30...
Damn when I first saw Cajun’s lose, my brain said, “WHAT”? Then reading on I saw it was the Women’s team that lost as they are still recovering from injuries, getting stronger, faster, and playing more as a team! My question to you is, Why can’t we call these young LADIES, Lady Cajuns? There is just one University whose sports program is Ragin Cajun’s! Like the Tennessee Volunteers you also call their women’s teams the Lady Vols! We could buy double the afire Ragin Cajun’s Softball and Lady Cajuns Softball.
Because neither the University nor the Coaches want their teams to be Lady Cajuns.
Lord, how many times to we have to talk about this........
I don't think David Walker, Scott Farmer or any individual labeled as "university" should decide that.
Lady Cajuns was organic and came on the heels of being in an organization called "women" that banned their participation in intercollegiate sports for "50" YEARS.
It took a "Miss America" and "Lady Cajuns" to put female sports back on the map at UL.
Some admin trying to save money on marketing is not an excuse.
The ones who really pushed for the drop of Lady were the Lotiefs. The other women's coaches agreed unanimously.
This was not something pushed by David Walker or Scott Farmer. This happened while Nelson Schexnayder was AD and it came in response to the requests from the coaches.
How many damn times to we have to visit this.
It isn't coming back. Ever.
I'm talking about the third wave to kill organic. 2008.
Second wave to kill organic was Lotief era and fear of the established brand.
First wave to kill organic was 1999 (100 year anniversary) and the attempt to rebrand from organic "Cajuns" and "Lady Cajuns" to everything "Ragin' Cajuns."
The agency expense to create a new logo design, lettering, numbering, hot wheels, pepper was around $25,000. The little extra to do the same for Lady Cajuns was deemed cost prohibitive.
For a while stand alone "Cajuns" was removed from all uniforms. Lady Cajuns was swept under the rug.
As you can see with "Cajuns" you can't kill organic.
It's taken 3 separate attempts, some people don't understand who the sports program is for. It's not the coaches.
