you ask, is it typical to recruit sophomore h.s. softball players. the answer is yes, its the norm. the ncaa allows softball coaches to recruit h.s. sophomores unlike the other sports which is the players junior year. you also made a comment that alot of things can change between ages 15 and 18. remember, they are commitments, not signees. an athlete can only sign a national letter of intent during his/her senior year. the player can resend her commitment at any time before the letter of intent is signed and likewise, the school can resend its scholarship offer at any time before the letter of intent is signed. fyi, i heard that a group of college coaches will soon petition the ncaa to try and get that rule changed to the students junior year like the rest of the sports. most college coaches are not in favor of the early contact rule that softball has presently.
