Is it typical for a softball program to recruit players this young? Prior to the last few weeks I have not been aware of Cajun softball recruiting 15 year old sophomores. A lot can happen in a Young woman’s life between 15 and 18 years old. Maybe it was just not publicized before or I was ignorant to it.

Any exciting signees who are high school seniors that will plug the holes left by the nation’s 2017 leader and runner-up in home runs?

Yes. Mike never publicized his commitments, for several reasons. The players never made a big deal about their commitments (I believe at Mike's request), but did inform some of the recruiting sites when asked.

There were no fall signees due to the timing of Mike's departure. Kourtney Gremillion and Alissa Dalton (redshirt freshman and sophomore) will fill the offensive gap of D. J. and Aleah.

you ask, is it typical to recruit sophomore h.s. softball players. the answer is yes, its the norm. the ncaa allows softball coaches to recruit h.s. sophomores unlike the other sports which is the players junior year. you also made a comment that alot of things can change between ages 15 and 18. remember, they are commitments, not signees. an athlete can only sign a national letter of intent during his/her senior year. the player can resend her commitment at any time before the letter of intent is signed and likewise, the school can resend its scholarship offer at any time before the letter of intent is signed. fyi, i heard that a group of college coaches will soon petition the ncaa to try and get that rule changed to the students junior year like the rest of the sports. most college coaches are not in favor of the early contact rule that softball has presently.
