  1. UL Football Smith stayed committed after Cajuns coaching change

Mississippi running back Chris Smith said after weekend visit to UL that he's remained committed to the Ragin' Cajuns.

I have always said that in order for this program to get to where we all want it to be we have to start beating the techs, so miss', Memphis' and Houstons of the world, in recruiting. All of our commits appear to only have offers from FCS, D1 or D2 schools. I hope these coaches know what there doing and can see talent that no other FBS teams see.

I’ve kind of been thinking the same, but their credentials, I’d trust this staff until they give you a reason not to.

Don't forget they got a late start

I agree with Soldier. I don't think I'd judge their ability to recruit based on this year's class due to the late start. I'd give them a chance to run camps and invite prospects here for the summer and then go through a full recruiting cycle before getting worried.

That article was confusing as hell. He talks about Arizona St and then refers to them as the Wildcats, which is the mascot of Arizona. Arizona St is the Sun Devils.

    Its a Buckley article...

  9. UL Football Re: Smith stayed committed after Cajuns coaching change

Regardless of a late start, we shouldn't make offers just to use scholarships. IOW all offers should be for players deserving FBS slots. In a four year period you'll have 15 more scholarships than you can have on scholarships.

Having said all that, I'm trusting these guys.

Smith is one recruit from the previous staff they decided to keep.

It's all about projecting and finding guys who you feel can fit your system. Maybe this staff has looked at kids who may be higher rated but don't fit what they want to do. No one will know why they offer who they do or why, except this coaching staff. I felt the same about the previous staff. The problem with the previous staff is that those players didn't develop and when you looked at the field it had the feel that we were playing positionless football.

I want to see the product on the field before I cast judgment on who we are recruiting.

A quote that I recently heard that warmed my heart...."we don't give a damn about stars, we're looking for good football players".
