All of these coaches were out on the road recruiting before they got here. It’s not like their first day recruiting was their hire date here. Hud and his staff’s best class was the first one. We won’t know for sure for a couple years anyway but i would put my money on looking back in a couple years as this class having a huge impact as far as laying the foundation for success. This is the only year all of our coaches won’t meet players as a coach from the sunbelt.

Well that’s a wrong way to view things IMO.

First they were all, except for Des, recruiting for other programs. Those programs, in many instances, were recruiting for different positions, and players of need.

In addition they may have had to unsell kids in programs they’d already decided to go to. That’s not easy.

I’m tickled pink with the progress they’ve made. The time to doubt the staff only comes a couple years down the road if these kids mostly turn out to be duds.

The Starkville OL that just committed was being recruited by looney at miss state. All these coaches were visiting high schools and looking at players before they got here. They go to these schools every year. They have the relationships. They didn’t start from scratch. Alonzo Harris, ringo, Hamilton were all guys Hud and staff were on at their previous schools and brought them here. Why do you think Gooden is even considering us? Because somebody on this staffs previous relationship.

I get that but it’s not a cold call, they have the relationship which if any of you are in sales know that’s what matters. They aren’t some stranger selling a strange program. They have kids who already trust them.

Still a hat trick to come off as genuine when the product you are selling has changed.

Of course they do, that's why you hire them and pay them the money they are making. When you hire a coach, you get his recruiting contacts as part of the package. The difference is you are selling to a SBC program that has fallen back from it's previous status instead of a P5 program.

What are we even discussing here?

Coaches have relationships with kids all over. Not a revelation. The SEC programs sell themselves. This is a whole new challenge for these coaches.
