There were others that just complained via email. You see if a kid wants to play football and he has a shot at D2 or D3, then whom am I to tell tell him that he is not good enough? At some point the parents have to support their kid's dream even after not getting offers from FBS or FCS progams and pursue those opportunities at D2 or D3 programs. But a number of parents get angry at you because you tell them he may have a shot at D2 or D3 and shut you down. I've been accused of lying because a UL coach told a parent his son had a shot at scholarship and ended up getting offered a PWO. He ask if I thought his son had a chance and I said yes, if not why would the coach offer? Well the PWO wasn't good enough and he ended up signing with McNeese where he never started a game. Apparently some parents don't believe in their kids enough to let them figure it out themselves or play somewhere else besides their dream program.

This decommit culture is a parenting fail. My kid will know, once you commit, your word is bond. Parents and these kids think if I can get an offer and something better comes along I'll just walk away from my word. It's an integrity issue thats ruined the process. I now admire how Dabo Swiney does it. Once a kid commits to Clemson hes commited. If that kid entertains another offer or takes another visit, Clemson will consider the kid as decomitted and drop his offer. Very clear and transparent process

I understand where the kid is coming from but I also don't agree with making a commitment until you are ready to shut down recruitment. Enjoy the process but don't tell coaches you are committed if you are not.

What was worse, he gave the same “respect my decision” speech 8 days earlier about committing to us. That’s what is comical, he didn’t respect his own decision.

So no more verbal commitments today? I saw all the activity on this thread and thought something big was happening. Oh well. I have to have to admit, MAT getting multiple job offers was really a surprising development. Congrats MAT on a big company giving you a big raise!!!

    Haters gunna hate.

Btw, the analogy was for people that possess basic reasoning skills. Didn’t expect you to get it.

Such hostility. A simple thank you would suffice. As for my reasoning, I thought the analogy you presented was good. But I think you should have pushed the other company for their offer before committing. It’s OK, not everyone handles every situation perfectly. Maybe we should set up a new thread on how to accept/turn down job offers.

    Yeah, pretty slick.

I'm expecting the thread will soon be flooded with counterpoints.
