Bert is feeling pretty chipper. Like he knows something he shouldn't.

In what alternate universe is Judice Inn not the best burger in town?

    2. Thinking about heading over for games on Thursday and Saturday. Are the Mississippi River Road plantations worth the drive? Is there a good golf course to hit over by there? Would like to base out of Lafayette so don't want to have too much of a crazy drive.

Thanks in advance for all the insights .
Asking anyone around here about dining establishments is just a fight waiting to happen, as you can tell after reading through all these posts. 95% of the places mentioned on this board are all worth eating at. What's so great about the food here is it just depends on what you are in the mood for and then just having to narrow it down from there. So if you were to say pizza, that narrows your field to roughly about 10 places worth eating at as opposed to the thousand or so restaurants in and around this area.

Now for the important part of your question...golf. I think it was mentioned but both the Farm and The Wetlands are probably the two premier public courses worth playing around Lafayette. If you can get a connection to play Le Triomphe or Oakbourne Country Club, by all means play them first. If money is a concern, then for $24, you can play (walking) either Les Vieux Chenes or Jay & Lionel Hebert public courses. Not bad for the money. If you have more time to drive to a course, PM me and I will give names of courses worth driving to within hour and half drive.

Good luck with eating places and better luck on the course.

Must say I am appreciative that this thread popped up. I don't get to Lafayette as much these days as I and my stomach would like. I am heading in tonight and am looking forward to trying a new place or two this weekend in addition to my must-haves. There just aren't enough meals in the day!

While I failed to consume the 50,000 calories by the time we left Lafayette (I still may make it with the king cake in the fridge) the Ragin Pagin travel agency has come through again. For the first time we made it to Dupuys and enjoyed it very much. After eating the night before at Shucks we wondered why everyone who works in the Lafayette area doesn’t live in Abbeville. One of the neat things we noticed is the sense of community that is evident by the interaction of people all throughout the Lafayette area. We enjoyed the Houmas House tour. Just so much history. Cajun basketball is so enjoyable to watch. Looks like anyone of 7-8 players could score 15 points any given night. Ran out of time for golf but will try again before long. Commented to my wife how nowhere in the world is life perfect but the people and their attitudes sure make it fun to be in the Lafayette area. Look forward to the astros classic and hope to be as helpful to you guys as you have been for me.
    Thanks again.
