For sure....I eat there fairly often, am pretty picky about seafood and have never had anything less than slightly above average. Often very good, nowhere nohow 'garbage.'

I still say one of, if not the best, meals to have in LFT is Cajun Benedict at the French Press. Or anything at the French Press.

    Sweet Baby Breezus.

And since you're in area, stop by Johnson's Boucaniere for a plate lunch or some goodies to bring home with you.

Okay garbage may be a bit strong but it is nowhere as good as it once was. Any thing broil or fried is the same as before the changes. The difference now is all the gumbo, etoufee and au gratin are made offsite just like a chain restaurant.

I worked there in the 90's and 2000's and would eat the spicy trout weekly. I tried to order it a few years ago and the bartender talked me out of it.

I definitely see the appeal of that beer for some, especially coffee drinkers, but it just isn't for me. Maybe it's because I don't drink coffee. Who knows.

I really like stouts though, just not the ones that try to overdo it with the coffee undertones. My favorite stout is still Blaecorn Unidragon by Clown Shoes. Very balanced Russian Imperial stout.

Just say no to French Press. One of their servers tried to fight a friend of mine when he went to complain to the manager about the crappy service and 1.5 hour ticket time. From that moment on, I tell any out of towner or anyone who has never been to avoid French Press. Eff that place.

Yes indeed on Cafe V. French Presse. NO. Long wait for overpriced food. They definitely have an overinflated opinion of themselves.

Big yes to the Boiling Point but for crawfish, Crawfish Time on Verot. The shrimp or the best anywhere.
Johnsons is a big favorite too.
Ive had The Barista from Clown Shoes and I like it a lot but its a coffee porter so maybe not for you.. Loupe Garou from Bayou Teche is a Belgian Imperial thats very good and the best RIS is Ten-Fiddy from Oskar Blues. The Ten-Fiddy is as black as my ex's heart and about as bitter.

Anybody looking for crawfish may have to wait a while. I just funished doing some work for a crawfish wholesaler and he said supply might be iffy for another week due to the recent prolonged cold weather. He is having to delay opening a drive though because if lack of consistent supply.
