Excuses. 4,000 is about 20% of total enrollment at UL. Lafayette is primarily a college town and needs to start acting like one if we are ever going to change. It is not this mecca of entertainment that provides so many alternatives for students. Sports are part of the college experience. That experience is in part what differentiates the P5 programs from others. We will never get past the level we are unless we expand our thinking. We have to realize the untapped potential and make it happen. I think Dr. Maggard understands that and so does Coach Napier, which is why they came here. It is like CajunJack said, our games must become an event. It is up to UL to create that event not only for students, but for alumni and fans as well. When we do that, the crowds will come and people will want to be part of something special.

When most people see $10+ for a drink they get sticker shock.

I understand charging higher prices for concerts, monster truck shows, etc., because those are "once a year" events and most people don't mind splurging for those type of events.

I feel when you have Cajun fans coming to the Cajundome sometimes three times a week for basketball, cut them a little slack being they are your loyal/repeat customers.

Is it better to sell 1000 items at $8 profit or sell 1500 items at $6 profit?

The drinks are a lot more than that for concerts. If you can imagine that.

No doubt, except they are trying to avoid "at all costs" hiring a full staff.

    Over pricing accomplishes that goal.

Thought this was an interesting article. I know it is pro/amateur and football versus basketball, but the object lesson still seems appropriate to me.

ADDED: I should also have noted that the stadium, after cutting prices by half, had a 16% INCREASE in sales. Kind of goes back to the thought that if the pricing is reasonable folks are much more likely to buy more at the stadium and not eat before coming to games.

The huge price jump and crappy selection got me out of buying beer at games all together now. Same story for my buddy who comes to nearly every game with me. I used to enjoy those brews too. Bummer...
Yep. This is my feeling as well.

I had no problem paying $9 for the large beers but $13 is too much.

They are generally snowed in much of basketball season at Utah State. AlSo a Mormon State so less partying up there. Vstill a good idea to review what they do however.

Here is a relevant article posted today by ESPN regarding Atlanta's new stadium and their concession pricing:

Thanks for that info. Would love to know how they did that.

Why can't we lease space to fast food joints?

Why does beer have to cost 4x what I could pay for it across the street at the gas station?

    WOW!!!!!

I knew we were getting the shaft. I just didn't realize how bad it actually is!

After reading that article, nobody can, with a straight face, defend the prices at the Cajundome.

"self serve" soda tap. Think about that.
