They are techincally still doing it, they just don’t do it the same way anymore. Now they are doing it for a $20 gift card to hungry Howies and they already have someone picked out prior to halftime

I understand that this would be a miracle at best. But just think, what would the dome do if 3-4K students showed up. Hell even if 2k would show up. Not enough room behind the goal. We as fans can't get them to come. It would take one hell of a promotion by the university to get this done. Like I said, and I think none of up have the answer, what do the students think about basketball games. What is their reasoning for not showing up.....

The average cost of domestic draft in a keg beer is between 55 and 75 cents per pint (16 oz).
A 32 oz plastic cup costs about 15 cents.

So... for a 32 oz beer, the Cajundome's cost is somewhere between $1.25 and $1.65 per beer (and that is being very generous, it's probably cheaper because of the volume they purchase).

    $1.25 cost selling for $10 is a 700% markup.
    $1.65 cost selling for $10 is a 506% markup.

Obviously, paying the employees who serve the beer is not factored into these numbers.

With that said... I still pay the $10, but I know others who refuse to pay $10. I also know people who used to purchase 2-3 beers a game, but now limit themselves to only one beer.

When I graduated, I enrolled the next year, 3 hours, just to get my student ID and sit with my friends in the animal farm. Cheaper than two season tickets back then.

Most sporting events/concerts I go to you will pay that much for a 16 oz...imo it's not a bad price when comparing with other venues, in fact it is a really good price.

How does a school like Utah State get 4,000 students to every game? Someone should look into that. It should be doable at UL. Up to now, there has been no apparent effort to get students excited about UL sports. Once you get them to the game, you have to have not only a good product on the court, but have something for them to do to get them involved. We need someone to choreograph yells and cheers that everyone can get into. It might be, for example, spelling out C-A-J-U-N-S with the band that the whole arena can get into. Get all the students to the CajunDome with free beer for practice sessions, for example, like yell practice at Texas A&M. We need to get everyone attending a game involved, picking up what the students do and getting involved so attending a game is memorable. We have almost 20,000 students. Getting 3,000-4,000 for every game should not be a problem. If we are ever going to be attractive to a conference like the AAC, since we are not in a major market, we need to have game appeal, i.e. winning programs and great crowds with an awesome atmosphere.

My links to YouTube for Utah State did not seem to work. Not sure how to copy and paste as that did not work. If anyone can, please paste active links. You need to see what their students are like and what kind of game atmosphere is there. The same is true for Wichita State. One of the best atmospheres in the country and a great program that got them into the AAC from not that large a market.

Utah State also has about 8K more students than we have.

Let's expand on this a bit, most of what you are saying is true. It's not just college kids but also adults. We can belittle it all we want but the facts are the facts. Their's a lot more entertainment out there than their was 20-30 years ago. We can also watch almost every game from home on the couch or on our phones. Add to this that a regular season game doesn't really matter as much as it used to and it mostly boils down to the tournaments, the administration must do more than simply put on a basketball game for folks to take 2 and half hours out their day to come to the dome. I think they are finally getting it for football but we must do it for basketball. It must be an event.

And most of them are Mormon. They can't drink, smoke or have sex. Nothing else for a college student to do besides go to a basketball game.
