I had no idea who any of techs assistants were until there was talk of us hiring one.... because I didn't go there and unless we are playing them never give them a second thought. Anybody who takes time out of their day to come to our board to talk ____ about assistant coaches is a special kind of loser.

No the greatest LBs we ever had ranged from the Simms, Etienne, Fontnett, Alaexander and Poole days.

Starting with Steve Spinella in the early 1980's was our 1st Division 1a All American.....Theron Harrison, Rudy Pennimon, William Sims, Clifford Champ, Dwayne Fontenette, Patrice Alexander, Charles Poole.....a couple of Linebackers who weren't as athletic but were fine players were Randy Guidry in the late 1980's and in the 1990's Pat Brennan.......I would definitely put Otha Peters and Lightfoot in that group....in my opinion the best "group" were in 1990 when we ran double eagle....outside backers Clifford Champ and Dwayne Fontenette....Inside backers William Sims and Rudy Pennimon...shame that Sims played hurt all year, Rudy tore his ACL and Clifford broke his arm....all 4 signed pro contracts..

Simms was a beast! My only hesitation with putting Lightfoot in that group is he only had 1 year that he was really outstanding.
I also put Zanders amongst our top LBs. was an outstanding special teams player as well

Apparently you never saw William Sims, Patrice Alexander and Frank Bartley play.

The first 2 played on Sundays and the 3rd only has the most tackles in school history.

can't argue with that!!! ANd all were lowly 2 star, "lower level" recruits

It is hard to compare eras, but I think the guys playing LB in the late 80’s, early 90’s were better. I do think Peters was as good as the older guys. My favorite was Sims. He made a few plays during his career that were jaw dropping.

I don’t know about the other two, but Sims was a big time recruit for us.
