Justin Miller has a great playground shot when the shot clock was going down during the second half...anyone there hear him call "glass!"?
That's the great thing about this team. I'm sure Bryce takes wining over personal stats. It's so refreshing in the "clear out 1 v 1" game it's become.
Jay mentioned that this was actually a decent crowd for them but they average about 2,700+ so not sure. On a completely unrelated note, when looking up their attendance numbers I came across Grand Canyon University. You know the school that is often seen live on CST while we have no broadcast rights, and they average 6,800 people. That's insane for a team that is reclassifying for D1 and playing in the WAC.
oops, wrong thread.
I am not going back to read all the post in the thread but to me, the key to the game was defense and the play of Stove and Miller. Both did a lot of little things that did not show up in the scorebook, like deflect passes and tip rebounds to other players. I am almost positive that the basket that was made by one of our players because of the hustle that Miller and Stove had going for the ball. A huge play when Stove got the offensive rebound and while laying on the floor kicked the ball out to Bartley for a 3. 17 assists on 25 baskets, this team likes to share the ball and some time too much. Marlin yelled at Russell one time to shoot the basketball, I think his exact words were I put you in the game to shoot, stop passing.
This is a fun team to watch and wish everyone would get on board and enjoy the ride instead taking shots at our coaches and players, but I guess that is what a message board is for. We will probably stumble at some point and the key will be to see how we respond. Right now our biggest threats are Troy, the 2 Georgia schools and UTA back at our place. Troy's game was postponed because of weather, so they will play App on Monday. Troy will play CCU on Saturday, App on Monday, ULM on Thursday and us on Saturday at 2 pm. Troy with 4 games in 8 days plus an earlier afternoon game, sets up well for us. The Georgia schools are the Georgia schools. I think by the time UTA makes the return trip to the Cajundome, they will have given up. No chemistry with that team. There was an "incident" last year at the team hotel when the men and women's team where staying at the same hotel, they are no longer allowed to stay at the same hotels on the road.
Geaux Cajuns!
