Mel Rock was the leader of this group....I like my new seats but miss all the former band dudes et al....Brock provided trivia responses as quickly as one can imagine.....in a way basketball was my favorite sport having played with great players that went to Georgetown and Auburn.....never would have seen UL or football if a Shoulder injury wouldn't have taken my baseball scholly away!!!
A few of the students I sit with were asking about this. The seats before the current student section that were right behind the bench were perfect and standard. They had points like was it was easy to get involved and rowdy right behind their bench and it was a great view of the game. Being behind the goal is really a terrible view of the game but I'm at least happy we FINALLY have an official student section. It was unofficially behind the visitors bench but those tickets were sold and lots of non students sat there as well. Even talked about football and basketball white outs, red outs, etc where the program will lay out shirts on the seats before people show up. That's a simple and cheap incentive for people to show out. Looking forward to maggards take on it but he also just got here so he didn't make too many changes before this season started.
Any word on Kadavion Evans, or is his career done? With PJ struggling Evans could take some of those minutes if he could ever get healthy. I originally heard that they were shooting for December, now we are Jan 8th and still no word. He could if healthy pick up a few valuable minutes.
ULM shoots the fewest FT in the league. And, that's pretty normal. But unlike a lot of previous years, they make them now. In fact, we average 10 more attempts PER GAME than they do.
GS and App have more attempts than we do. But neither shoots 65%.
This is not the first season the students have been in the end zone. If you watch a lot of CBB, the majority of the schools I see do it that way. It also frees up prime seating for sale. I'll be interested to see what attendance is like since school starts on the 10th.
Evans is just beginning to practice.
So far, I’m not seeing anyone who I’d trade a player on the floor for their player on the floor. Translation, we’ve got the best starting five , and then there’s Stove. Nuff said.
There is a SBC rule. I can’t recall exactly what it is, but I think it’s to keep students away from opposition.
I agree, with you on the students in the end zone. I attend a number of Wake Forest games being that I live about 20 minutes from Winston Salem, NC and that is the norm and their students are into the games. They are big time in attendance for games and are very rowdy.
Great news on K-Evans. Hopefully he can help down the stretch.
Yes, football wise their student section sux.....But basketball they are pretty strong. Remember you are talking about a school that has less than 5K undergrad enrollment.
The dirty deacons come out strong for basketball traditionally. Now I have not been this year and they are only 8-7 so they probably are not getting the crowds they wanted. They had high expectations this year, as they went 19-14 last year, losing in the 1st round of the NCAA's.
Well I can't find the article I read but here is one about basketball attendance (students) dropping at Wake Forest.
