App State was averaging over 80 points per game. They were bad because the Cajuns made them look bad.

Gant's injury is similar to the one Bryant Mbamalu had a few years ago. A ligament problem in the thumb.

I agree with most of you, App was bad because we made them look bad. App ain't nearly as bad as they appeared last night.

This is a team that scored 98 points in a 6 point loss to a good Iowa State team. They also beat a decent Davidson team as well as UTA. They have struggled on the road, but pretty good at home. We held the 3rd leading scorer in the SBC, Shab___ (who is a very good player) to 8 points on 3-11 shooting. Shab___ is shooting 43% from the field, he shot 27% last night. He is shooting 34% from 3 point land, he shot 0.00% last night. Oh by the way, he was averaging 20.9 points per game coming into last nights game, and he scored 8. This is a guy who also gets to the FT line 6 times a game and shoots 67%, he only stood on the FT line 4 times last night. This was his worst output of the season, including 32 points vs Iowa State, 25 vs WMU, 22 vs JMU, 18 vs Davidson, 19 vs VCU, 21 vs USF, 26 vs Akron, 15 vs Ohio State, 21 vs UTA and others. The lowest output he had had before last night was 12 vs UTEP, the lowest shooting % he had had before last night was 33% vs UTEP.

The bigger issue is Gant being out 3 weeks. The good news is that one of those weeks we only have one game, that is the week vs ULM. He should be back before the Georgia swing, which is important. I think we can win every game without him in the next 3 weeks, but the Texas swing will be tough. Outside of that we should be poised to knock fat___ Ron Hunter down a bit. Man I hate that guy.

I am a longtime grad student at UTA and from the area. It seems to me like the Sunbelt is intentionally overrating UTA's basketball teams maybe to help keep them in the conference. Since they do not have a football team, any athletics emphasis is basketball and the professional quality College Park Center Arena. UTA Men's loss to Texas State in the Sunbelt tournament last year knocked some of the luster off of the program. I think a lot of teams would like coach Scott Cross who is a solid guy and is surely only there because he is an UTA Alum. They went to the NIT last year and hosted and won a couple of games similar to what Texas State did in the CIT. I think with the size of the school (now over 40,000) and facilities and location they may be attractive to CUSA or AAC if one those conferences loses a member at some point.
What are you, the next coming of Witchita State? Why would CUSA bring on a non football school? Why would the AAC follow up adding Witchita State with UTA? It must be the Mav's one NCAA appearance. We may have grand dreams at UL, but they are far more realistic than this fella.

I'm glad its just 3 weeks. The word I had seen was the dreaded "Indefinitely" which can go anywhere.

If I were a betting man, when it comes to basketball in the AAC, if UCONN says frog, they all respond "how high". Given the Huskies history and name in the sport, the AAC will always cave to their desires. Hence, teams like Witchita.

    Three weeks is the minimum.

Crowd was a pleasant surprise last night. I get the assumption that a team is bad... but 17 points at halftime for a Sun Belt Conference team is more than playing bad. The Cajuns had alot to do with it.

20 miles from SMU & 40 miles from UNT ..both conferences have schools in the DFW area and would not even kick the tires on UTA

Did Big Fish apologize for having to play a dud like App State? No, but he kind of did when he assured everyone that the Mountaineers were much better than they played.

My comments to Destin Cajun before the game, 'they look slow, and their uniforms suck'. I think we'd beat this team 95 out of a hundred times on a neutral court. By the way both my opinions on them turned out right.

I’m not saying the Cajuns didn’t help.. and I’m not even saying they are a bad basketball team..

What I’m saying is, last night, those guys played one of the worst games I can remember watching in conference. Sloppy, no communication, couldn’t buy a bucket, couldn’t finish at the rim, zero perimeter defense, looked slow and tired.

Cajuns had a little something to do with that, but a lot of their performance was self inflicted.
