What is also interesting about Scott leaving to coach Alabama's DB's is that according to the most recent SI, whoever coaches DB's at Alabama is actually closest to Saban since he considers himself a DB coach first . The article says that if you ever want to find Saban at the beginning of practice, find the the DB's - that is where he starts. He gets very close with his DB coaches...

Maggard and Napier have already elevated our football program when p5 schools are coming in to raid our assistant coaches!

Florida State tried to hire James Willis away from us. Willis actually took the job but changed his mind

Don’t see this as a positive in any way. Losing a DC to be a position coach is a bummer. I realize it’s Bama but this is a setback. Hopefully the next guy will be good. We won’t know for quite a while either way.

It's a temporary set back, but certainly not catastrophic. Most of us realize that fact and thus are not panicking. The bottom line is there still remains a large gap between the top of the P5 and the opportunities they avail to young coaches like Karl Scott. His next job will be as a P5 coordinator and not in the G5.

Todd is very much an offensive guy. Gus Malzahn disciple.

No Todd is a defensive guy who has always hired good offensive coordinators.

Was DC with Tulsa and west Virginia before getting head job at rice.

What's going to be their spin if we don't hire him and he stays at Tech? Tech has a better program and he wouldn't leave because of that and all that Ruston offers and he really is a great DC? That will be fun to read. Don't know anything about him. I'll trust Coach Nap to make the right decision.

I stand corrected. He brought Malzahn to Tulsa and then at Rice they were running the same offense. Good catch.
