I’d take either tournament that starts with an N (NC being some arguable benefit over the NI). What we’re trying to do is not have to decide if one of the C tournaments is worth our money every year. But I agree with Zephyr. Everything, not just the few days in March, are complimentary goals.

That 3 games in March nonsense was started by Jay Walker, and parroted by others. Marlin never said that. And y'all know how I feel about Bobby Big Fish.

And even the 3 games in March is used only in regards to getting an NCAA bid.

Getting your ticket to the big dance doesn't actually always show the accomplishments of the regular season. To me its kind of like going to a bowl game with 6 wins.
Bullhockey, 1 NCAA visit brings in more money to our program than three NIT visits.

However, to build a program, you need to start by winning conference. Losing in the first round of the NCAA tourney does very little to build your program. It's also a much more significant accomplishment. being the best team in your conference over an 18 game or 20 game schedule is much more difficult than winning 3 games in the tourney. That mindset that the NCAA is our only goal is a joke and I think the current staff and AD are starting to look at winning conference outright much more seriously now.
I never said anything about 3 days in March. I am all in favor of winning the conference outright. I think that is a better way to choose a conference champion. However, it is the winner of the conference tournament that gets the invitation to the big dance. If our ultimate goal is a national championship, then winning the tournament is a sure ticket. I don't see us having a chance otherwise. Sure, I would like to see the day when we could get an at-large bid. However, I don't see that happening this year or in the near future. I want us to win every game we play. I want to see better competition (ooc). But, until that happens and the conference does likewise, we will continue to have only 1 team from the conference invited to compete for a national championship.

Being conference champion means you are at least one of the 2 best teams in the league..which Increases your chance of winning the conference tournament. Being the conference champion gives the best seed in the tourney which also increases your chance of winning the conference tournament. Being the conference champion and winning the tournament most likely means you won’t be a play in game or 15 seed, increases your chance of actually being competitive enough to win a game. Being the conference champion and falling short in the tourney still
Puts a trophy in your case, gives you at least an outside shot of possibly getting an at large on certain years and a consolation prize of a tourney you don’t have to pay to be in. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. There are zero cons to being a comference champion. The cons of the other way are what we ya e had with bob Marlin with the exception of 1 year. If our coach thinks it’s onky about 3 games in March, we’ll ge isn’t good at that either. Bottom line Is bob marlin has not had very many accomplishments on the court since he has been here. That is not debatable. Build a championship program and more often than not you will find yourself dancing in March.

And have the player of the year in the league, and have a respectable RPI for seeding and go undefeated in the dome.

It's crazy with some of the good teams we've had, we have never had an undefeated season in the Dome.

Warren Nolan is now projecting UTA, UL and GaSo to all be 15-3 and tied for first. I believe that UTA and both Georgia schools finish ahead of the Cajuns, even though the schedule favors UL over UTA. GaSo actually has the most favorable schedule, as they play us only at their place. Coastal will not be a factor.
Still think Coastal isn't a factor?

Coastal is always tough at home, I am glad we only play them in the Cajundome.
