One of the reasons that threads like this one linger on and on is due to the extremely limited statements of certain posters. Without context, these back and forth and back and forth strings of misunderstandings and misrepresentations occur. I think that's what a lot of posters like. They don't want 6 sentences that pull together an answer. Very limited attention spans (or slow reading skills) require a "Trump tweet"... so that nothing of substance can be misrepresented by another statement of no substance.
Generally texting on my phone is about all I can do on RP. That’s not a good way to develop well thought out arguments. Hell, I can barely see what I wrote a second ago.

In the past, when Marlin saw a lackluster season staring him in the face.. he wanted the fan base and players to ignore the present and instead look forward to the 3 games in March. I think too many fans are taking that as his only mission. What he says on a daily basis to the team is vastly more important than what he says at a press conference.
Fair enough. We sure seem to be good at complicating things. Try to win each game. The rest takes care of itself.

    https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-to.../bracketology/

This site has us as a 12 seed, the other 5 seeds would be:

    Seton Hall
    Gonzaga
    Miami
    Kentucky

Those are some pretty good 5 seeds.

Joe Lunardi just put out his weekly rankings for the tourney and he has us as the 50th team out of 68

All that means is he expects us to win our tournament, and around a 12 seed. We’ll have to win the tournament and probably lose no more than 2 games to get a 12 seed.

What seed were we when we played against Creighton?

    50 is 13 facing 4

Side note Michigan having its way with Iowa. On a play when it was low double digit lead the Michigan defender yanked the Iowa kids jersey and Iowa called for travel.

    Michigan prevails 75/68. A 7 point Win.

If it's so, I want a whole new bunch of athletes to go with the new coach. Working in a coal mine is a grind. Playing basketball when you are in your early 20's is fun.

I'm not disagreeing that what you are saying is true. It just goes against everything I believe about competitors.
Never said college athletes don't try to win. But if the overall goal of the team is finish top 4 in conference and to win the conference tourney, there are bound to be some details missed through the course of a conference schedule that might focus on the now rather than the later. We still seem to be getting stuck in the small details here. Our focus should be on winning the conference title. Period. Nothing else should matter to our players or staff or fans at this point. We have an opportunity to do it and our play and our preparation should reflect it.

Also, if you don't think that the season is a grind, you never played even at a high school level. I am truly amazed at how NBA guys can go 82 games plus a ton of postseason games these days. When we played in high school, we played close to 40 games including post season and I felt like my body was falling apart and I was 175 pounds. The travel, the prep time needed for your upcoming opponent, study time and combined with play and practice time is a grind. It's not "hey, lets wake up and play some pick up guys". It may not be a blue collar grind but its definitely a toll on your body.

Damn I sure remember the workouts...and the games....and the sprained ankles. Sure thought I played.
