Our esteemed posters are great at complaining. They offer nothing plausible in a way of solution.

I'm assuming you've been reading this site longer than you've been posting... but VO and Express have given numerous arguments to go along with their "complaining" over the years. As their arguments get countered, it certainly helps folks like me understand how tenuous of a situation basketball scheduling is for us... and how massively difficult it is to navigate a course to a better RPI (through scheduling)... for a UL. But the people in question are not chronic complainers that offer no solutions/suggestions.

We're not worried about anyone else. Everyone has their own reasons on how they schedule. LSU can play a lotta bad RPI teams because they're playing in the SEC and their SEC record barely has to be.500 to get into the dance. We've actually got to reverse schedule LSU.

There's a new sheriff in town. All the pieces are in place for us to have one heck of a season in basketball this year. If Marlin doesn't come close with the talent we have, I bet he's going to feel some heat............assuming he hasn't already.

NO SBC is going to sniff a 12 seed playing 18 games 250+ RPI.

I'm not happy the days I grew up in, college and a few years after are gone. We had the Bayou Classic. GOOD teams came here. This all changed in the 90's, our home OOC was the freaking SWAC under Fletcher. I gave up my tickets. Some lapped his c**p like mother's milk. In retrospect, was the beginning of the end of what we now both seek.

Came back a few years ago, but it's all different. ESPN and the birth of the Big East killed the game I long for. I know mathematically the deck is stacked against ALL the non P5s. I want to compete and go to the NCAA any way possible. Every year.

I don't care for these pay for play joke tournaments. But every time someone posts ____ about a mid major poll or possible mid major national championships, it's accepting "we're not good enough".

Regarding the pay to play tournaments. I understand people not getting excited about them. However consider this scenario. Let's suppose this year's team goes 14 and 4 in conference but gets the 2nd seed because of a tiebreaker. They then go on to lose in the conference tournament finals. That likely gives them an overall record of 26 and 8. Do you know where they will go in the post-season. Book it that they would be in the CIT or an equivalent pay for play tournament. That is because NIT takes all conference champs that do not get into the NCAA tournament. Such a season would have the squad deserving of post season play, much more so than a 6 and 6 football team going to a bowl game. Unfortunate that their only option is pay to play. I think the scenario I described would have more fan support to play in the CIT than in the past. Of course, the easy solution is to win the regular season. I vote for that option.

Dump the non D1 games. That would be a start. Don’t ever risk “fumbling” the bed like Broadhead’s team did the day before Thanksgiving.

Non D1 games have no impact on RPI. Perception wise, they are a killer however if you stub your toe. I agree the no. of those we play should be reduced as it is understandable fans are reluctant to pay for a contest against squads that are outmanned.

I agree that we should not play them. But if I could only change 1 game, I wouldn't play McNeese. Playing them hurts us win or lose.

Don't be surprised if McNeese sees a change in their basketball leadership at the end of the season.

I presume your prediction assumes a loss at Clemson and a 14 and 4 conference record. I would take that right now as that would likely put us as either the first or second seed. I don't generally make many predictions about the Cajuns because if I predict they will do well I almost certainly jinx them. I do think we will have a winning conference record but that is as far as I will go. It would be interesting to see what others think as the scheduling discussion has been interesting and informative. However, until it is discussed with Dr. Maggard or the staff, we don't know if it is possible to change it much. Next season can't have much of a change because of contractual obligations to continue the series from this season. I think it is time to focus on the actual team and the remainder of the season as the non conference portion ends Friday.

Historically the AD doesn’t do the MBB schedule. Y’all can bet your bottom dollar he sets the tone, budget, and expectations.

Unfortunately some of you guys keep thinking THIS year,last year, us. Think conference, strategic five years goals.

We don’t need a wholesale change in scheduling. UL needs to change two or three games a year. The SBC each needs to follow suit. Doing this would make a big difference in our champs chances.

Sure I love beating teams by 37. It’s just not going to help us 3 games in March, and hopefully 3 games into the Big Dance.

Again for a few knuckleheads I don’t dislike Bob Marlin. I don’t hope he fails, just the opposite I hope he incredibly successful. He’s been here most a decade. He seems to have had a large sample of mediocrity. I do want better, and right now his mediocre career is tolarated. Let’s see if 2017/18 results in better? Until it does I’m not sold on the guy. Weak scheduling, never finishing in top two regular season, one top three, isn’t a resume I’d hire, why’d I want to keep renewing that.

I don't expect an extension unless the conference season is better than in the past. As far as renewal or change goes, that decision likely won't occur until 2020.
