Gerald hammered Rusty on the radio. Said him and Rusty never saw eye to eye, and that Rusty's Thursday lifting and terrible techniques directly led to 3 injuries in the second half of a single game.

    Was surprised to hear that.

That doesn’t surprise me to hear Gerald’s opinion. He’s basically mocked several times on the radio Rusty having his guy run the upper decks at Cajun Field with backpacks of sand.

Whatever. All I know is when Rusty was in charge of their conditioning, our guys rarely looked out of shape, especially in the 4th Quarter.

Source tells FootballScoop Arizona State offensive line coach Rob Sale will join Billy Napier’s staff in Lafayette.

I don't know Rob Sale personally, I do remember him when he came out of Neville HS and played at LSU. He did a hell of a job at ULM and McNeese while there, recruited well considering both schools. Since then he has coached the OL at Georgia and now Arizona State. I've heard other coaches speak highly of him, Coach Broussard knows him. He is known as a teacher and a good recruiter. Don't be surprised if he is named Assistant OC/Running Game Coordinator and Napier calls his own plays.

It wasn't a problem for the first four years. There is no doubt that when Whitt left, the discipline in the program left with him. I don't think Gerald would disagree with that. Most of the players that played under Whitt would certainly agree with that statement. A number of them have told me so over the past few years.

T, how up to date do you think Napier is on what players are being recruited at this time? I mean, what happens if players sign in the 72 hour early period and they are not someone he would have recruited?

I’ve said it plenty. HUD’s best accomplishment was putting together a great staff from the jump.

With Jay Johnson and Whitt: 9 wins seasons and bowl victories

    Without: fired.

    It’s that simple

He's not signing anyone he doesn't want. He has a list of commitments from Des and has been reviewing them. If they only sign 6 or 7 athletes during the early signing period, it will be no big deal. They will have all of January to bring in kids they like and want to sign.

Good to hear he's on top of things.
